Obviously false info because when I look at the recent calls on my phone, the name disappears and it's just the number. They are just trying to get you to pick up by not using Verizon Wireless as the caller ID.
I agree with Cluemeister that it's probably Verizon. Got a text from them earlier right after I didn't answer the first call from this number. I'm late on my bill.- Caller: FELICIA DAVIS
- BretIt is a call from Verizon wireless billing they left me a voicemail.
- Caller: Verizon Wireless Billing
- Call type: Event reminder
- D'Rat| 1 replyVerizon needs to quit calling me and wasting my phone minutes. I don't have Verizon, have never had Verizon, don't want Verizon. They need to call someone else.
- Caller: Evidently Verizon in Westerville, OH
- dodgechik2004| 2 repliesa phone number from Columbus OH left an automated message asking me to call Verizon at this 800 number. The message said to call and enter your phone number for a personalized message.
I thought it was a little strange, so I called the 800 number for Verizon that I know is legit. The customer service rep assured me that this message is ABSOLUTELY NOT VERIZON CALLING. Most likely scammers trying to fish for personal info..- Caller: Cherrokee Gates
- overdueThis is Verizon calling about overdue payments. I answered and paid via a credit card, then panicked (thinking it may have been a scam) and called the number on my Verizon bill when I got home. They had posted the payment to my bill already - so it WAS LEGITIMATE.
- Caller: Verizon
- Call type: Event reminder
- StopBadCallsByFightingBack replies to Cluemeister| 2 repliesYES, I have verified it is Verizon Wireless. I have the Verizon Jetpack 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MiFi. I am late on payment. They verified my information over the phone without me giving out anything. I went online, saw it was late, then paid it.
Anyone that says any different is a paranoid schizophrenic incapable of verifying anything for fear of the boogeyman. - Jack| 1 replyThe matter of fact is, the Fair Debt Collection Act makes any attempt to collect a dept by a creditor under fraudulent pretense a crime punishable by fines and or imprisonment. If a creditor is attempting to make telephone contact with a debtor, the number they are calling from MUST be associated with the business in all aspects. The fact that the caller ID identifies the creditor as someone else such as Cherokee Fence or as in my case the American Red Cross is a CLEAR VIOLATION of the FDCA. Regardless of what you may owe, there are rules that MUST be followed.

- BH| 1 replyIt is not Verizon I just got off of phone with Verizon as there asured me it is not them and also offered to block the number from my phone which I did.
- AP614-360-9213 actually is from Verizon. The call seemed suspicious to me. They called me with an automated system and when I got through to a live human, she didn't know why I had been called. Afterward, I called Verizon through *611 to check out this number. The customer service rep was not able to confirm that number was from Verizon, but she found notes from their financial office that had just been entered a few minutes before I called her. The only explanation is that it actually was their financial office that called me.
In my case, I think this number used to belong to someone else (I have been getting calls and texts for her constantly) who has an overdue payment. I think that's the number of their collections department. - FFThey've called my underage son's cellphone 5 times today. I know it's not Verizon about a bill because his phone is prepaid. Just really obnoxious fishing. I wish Verizon would do something about this since it's clearly a problem for a lot of people.
- timthewizard5 times today and 5 times yesterday they have rung my cell phone and never left a message. is this harassment or what! Looks like i will have to file another complaint with Verizon and the FTC
- Caller: Verizon?
- Call type: Debt collector
- p*ssed in peoriaNot Verizon. Have called 19 times in the last 4 days. I'm not late on my bill. Plus they just add the overdue to your bill, if only a month late.
BEWARE that a few of the responses above about it NOT being a scam are the exact same responses as on other sites such as Who Called Me. A little cut and paste from the offending parties? - JohnBobYes, this appears to be Verizon Wireless......But.....I just paid my bill.
This has happened several months in a row. I pay the bill (a week late, Yes, but I just paid it) then about an hour later, I get a call telling me that my bill is late and to call a number to pay it. Last month, I called Verizon to complain. They told me that this was a third party contractor. I stated that this was consistently a call that happened within hours after I paid my bill. They stated that this was not possible (confirmed with a "supervisor"). The timing is consistent, regardless of when I pay the bill, always 1-2 hours after I PAY the bill. The phone number given is never in the message is never an official Verizon number. They told me to ignore it.
I think that it is a scheme with inside information.
Maybe not but better paranoid that regretful.- Caller: Verizon subcontractor
- Call type: Debt collector
- Larry replies to StopBadCallsByFightingBack| 1 replyWell, perhaps people would be less alarmed if the message from billing had been made directly to their wireless phone and contained a less threatening and more respectful message. My payment was only a few days late, and my wife had already sent them a payment, so I think it was inappropriate to dunn me. Moreover, because I do not always check my mobile phone message, their dunning message had originally been made to my land line (which is not Verizon), and the caller ID was suspicious (Gates Cherokee). Only later did I find a message on my mobile phone with instructions to press a number and make an online payment or have my service turned off immediately (this for being < 1 week late with my payment). I chose instead to contact Verizon Wireless customer service directly and spoke to a nice young man who listened patiently as I explained that I am a longtime customer, whose payments are always on time, and was aghast to have received a threatening call from billing to pay up or be disconnected. I also explained about mysterious call to my land line, explained about all the complaints on the internet about calls from their dunning number (6143609213), and warned them that they risked having many customers (including myself) find another mobile service provider because of this. The young man offered to block all further calls to my phone from their dunning office and to also promised to add me to a list of people whose mobile numbers should not be shared with their 3rd-party partners. Finally, I told him to pass on my complaint to his superiors. If Verizon acts accordingly, then they may have saved this customer. Otherwise, I will change providers and never look back.
- Not AmusedThis call came from a scammer in another country using a magic jack device and Caller ID “Spoofing” technology. Some scammers making unwanted telephone calls are using a new technology called “caller ID spoofing” to falsify caller ID information. This means that telephone services such as caller ID, *69 (last call return) and *57 (call trace) are no longer reliable. The use of “spoofed” numbers by fraudsters who hide from the law is spreading due to phone companies’ installation of computer equipment that allows Internet-connected computers to cheaply make phone calls to conventional telephones. This technology allows the scammer to make unidentifiable phone calls to a citizen’s home. When a person returns a “spoofed” call, they find that the number is disconnected, not in service, or is assigned to someone who is very obviously not the scammer.
Most “spoofed” calls come from criminals trying to steal money or obtain personal information, such as credit card numbers, which the thieves can then use to commit identity theft. - FedUpWithTheCalls| 2 repliesI've been wondering who's number this was and after reading up above that it is Verizon, I still do not answer the phone. My bill was paid 2 days ago and these people keep calling. Verizon needs to do something about this before they really do upset their customers so much that they switch carriers.
- CAS replies to LarryJust got 3 calls yesterday from this number and called Verizon. The person had no knowledge of this number as one from Verizon but sent it up the food chain there.
- MsMary replies to FedUpWithTheCalls| 1 replyI agree. I paid my bill 2 days ago and they still keep calling. If they don't leave a voice message, I don't answer or call them back.
I am seriously thinking of getting the pay in advance phone from Wal Mart. Cheaper with unlimited text and calling all for ONE price. NOT BAD!! Way cheaper than VERIZON!!
