- steve| 1 replyDefinitely a debt collector. Don't admit ANYTHING, THEY ARE RECORDING YOU
- Caller: CBCS COLLECTIONS
- Call type: Debt collector
- Gunnar replies to steveIf they are recording you, they are required to tell you so at the start of the call. As a business they are obligated to inform the person that the call may be recorded. Not that it matters. A recording means nothing. Innumerable outfits have attempted to use this ploy. All have been shot down in court. The threat of the use of a recording is just exactly that. A threat. Nothing more.
The issue is similar to the use of e-mails by fraudulent debt collectors. E-mails are NOT legal proof of anything. In only a couple of places on this planet can legal documents be exchanged via the net. The U.S. is not one of those places.
In this country it's quite simple to deal with bogus and/or fraudulent debt collectors. The key is the phrase "in writing". A debt collector is required to adhere to the FDCPA. A notice of validation is required to be sent via the mail. NOT e-mail or fax. If a collector EVER refuses to provide one, he's a fraud. If a notice is provided & you dispute it, you have 30 days to inform the collector that you dispute it (by return mail) and you now will DEMAND a valid & complete letter of validation. As per federal regulations under the FDCPA. When a collector violates the provisions of the FDCPA he has proven he's a fraud. Pay him nothing!
Be Safe. Be Aware.
Gunnar - PissdoffLilly Kenneth broke the law and harassed you even if they know what they are doing is wrong. They keep calling my home looking for a niece from my ex-husband over 20 years ago and I have no connection with. We are a military family with perfect credit score and they have been told this phone number is not related to her and still keep calling. They need to be stopped. They are unethical.
- Caller: Lilly Kenneth
- Call type: Debt collector
- IagreeI never answer my phone, I just look at the caller id. This number seems very persistent.
- Sharon| 1 reply614 405 2090 keeps calling my house and I do not owe any debts. I do not understand why I keep getting these calls. It is very disturbing and when I read what others are saying, that it could be from a relative of long ago...well...that is not my problem. IT NEEDS TO STOP!!!
- Caller: OHIO
- not Michael replies to SharonIt also could be a debt owed by someone you've never met and aren't related to. I had to deal with that. Or it could be a scammer trying to trick you into paying a debt that does not exist.
Don't pay a debt you don't owe. Contact your phone company to see if calls from this number can be blocked. - BOOPCalled,,,, my voicemail picked it up they did not leave a message..
- RachaelKeeps calling but no message. Calls very late. I do not owe any debt. My concern is how do they have my cell phone too? I read comments about possible relatives, that's why I'm confused about cell phone. I can understand home number. They call non stop. I will report. But never seems to help.
- Kenneth Lilly| 1 replyMy name is Kenneth Lilly. I was contacted by someone on twitter who had goggled my name because of the calls he had been receiving showing my name as the "caller".
The number being discussed in this tread -- 614-405-2090 -- was a number I had over 15 years ago. Obviously, the owner of this number is still using my name for their own purposes to mask their identity of being a debt collector.
I will contact both the Ohio AG's Office and the Federal Trade Commission as they are obviously and fraudulently using my name -- both a company and phone number for which I have no connection. Though, through no fault of my own, I'm sorry this has caused confusion. - Elspeth replies to Kenneth LillyIt's also possible that they're "spoofing" your old number as well (making it look like your number and name, when it's not).
