These people are repeatedly harassing me, and have somehow gotten the number
of a friend and are harassing her too. I request that they immediately cease and desist. I will print this and give a copy to my attorney, also.
Thank you. Margaret A. (Peg) Bell

I got a call from this number 614-452-6094 RCS saying it's urgent that I call them about my "tax offset".  I did get a letter from state of ohio a while back regarding some taxes but I don't think that this is their collection method.  The Ohio Attorney General's office does not act in this manner.  They leave a name and case information.  I will not call this number back.

I was left with he same call today. Retrieved my messages as we are not home. Said he was Joe Fritz and that we needed to cal 614-452-6094. Sort of scared me as it was left for my son. How can they say that they are from the State of Ohio?  When they are not. They gave a case number which is probably bogus. Joe said that my son needed to know his rights and options as this was a state investigation.  I'm sure it's a collection agency and deceiving. I'm sure it needs to be handled but not a great way to handle things.

We received a call yesterday (in Wisconsin) from a "Jamie Moody" at RCS claiming to be with/represent the Ohio Attorney General.  They were looking for my son who lives in Ohio.  When I called back I was put on hold, rock music, first give away that is wasn't the AG.  Second was the confusion at the other end when I got x142 for the Jamie character.  He fumbled when I asked who he was and what he represented.

I received a call from this company and called the number. They asked if Evelyn Ersole lived here. I said no and they said they would remove my phone number from their files. Who are these people and what are they up to.
The Ohio Attorney General Office needs to clarify what's going on before someone decides to go to war on these people.

I have been contacted several times by this number for a 6 or 7 year old debt I have for a college loan that didn't get consolidated into my consolidation loan for some reason.  I checked the Ohio Attorney General's website FAQs (http://ag.state.oh.us/faq.asp) and found this listing as one of their legitimate collection agencies:

    Reliant Capital Solutions, LLC
750 Cross Pointe Rd; Ste G
    Gahanna, OH 43230
    (866) 837-5096
    (614) 452-6094  <----- here's our number

So it is a legitimate collection service for the OAG.  Now, whether their claims of litigation, etc., are legitimate, I don't know.

These people have been harassing me for months for student loan money that I owe, and even called my sister's house, claiming they were suing me, which was untrue. I wonder if all of the claims they make, and the calls to family members, is illegal, and i wonder what can be done about it. I have spoken to "John Moody" before and he seems nice, but the guys before him was very threatening, even yelling at me, and accusing me of trying to sue them dodge my debt. Ridiculous.

I have been getting calls recently from this company as well. They claim they are affiliated with the Ohio Attorney General's Office. What type of debt would they be contacting me about?

This guy had been calling about once a week for a month and a half, and now just about two or three times this week. I thought it was a recording - still think it is since he says he is "calling on behalf of the state of Ohio Attorney General's office". Well, I called back and asked him who the hell he is and why he keeps calling me and he yells back to "watch your mouth". He's a total [***]. If you call him and tell him the person he is looking for (he has to tell you who) is not there and he has the wrong #, you will have some recourse if he calls you back. I don't know what recourse exactly, but he seemed really pissed that the person he was looking for at my # doesn't live here and reluctantly said he would remove my home # from his list. I'm just waiting for him to call back. I may just give him a couple of calls when I work midnight shifts. So Mr. Joe Fritz - you better hope I never find your real name and home number. You are a tool sir and I hope you get what is coming to you.

I received a call a couple of days ago from a Christa said she was calling from RCS Deputy's Office... was very pleasant at first said she wanted to know what was going on ... I explained to her briefly that I had been making payments to the college I attended when it was sent to the AG office ... she suggested to me that I ask my job for a payroll cash advance in the amount I owe the school and have my job deduct weekly an amount to pay them back.

Today the Business Manager at my job received a call from a Christa 614-452-6094 and asked him if I made under 10,000/yr ... she said she was calling from the Ohio Attorney General Office ... he gave her the information and she left her # with him to give to me

I have also received calls from Joe Fritz

I have been receiving -extremely- rude phone calls from this number from a "Ms. Davis". I returned the call several times and finally left a voice mail telling them how to CORRECTLY pronounce my name (it was getting ridiculous) and to let them know my availability. She left me a voice mail this morning where she basically picked fun at me for telling her how to pronounce my name, making sure she said it in the most sarcastic and condescending voice possible. I am trying to look into how to discuss my matters with someone else via this company, because I refuse to talk to this excessively rude woman.

Just received a recorded call from RCS.  When I called back I found out that they are a legitimate debt collection agency calling about a disputed medical bill that my insurance company has on hold.  I spoke to Christa and she was very pleasant and willing to work with me.

I have been getting calls from RCS stating that they represent the Ohio State Attorney's Office,  for about 1 year and 10 months, thats when I inherited this phone number, this has happened about 6 times each time I tell them that the individual they want does not live here nor do I know who they are.  The agent I talked to said he would take the number off the list and I said you people have told me that every time I talk to you, I just told him if I get another harassing phone call from his office I would get a Lawyer and persue it in court.

Under the TCPA, a consumer has a right to file a lawsuit and recover $500 for each call that violates the TCPA. The TCPA can also be used in conjunction with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act in some situations.

Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.

This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc.  NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls.  In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc.  Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.

    David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors.  Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call.  Judge Davis wrote;

[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.

Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.

So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?

    1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
    2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
    3. Contact a consumer lawyer.
