I received a call from 614-516-0382, the caller ID came us as V90512002800181, when I answered, no one was on the line. Who is this and what is this all about?

called # back, it't for a free security system, just call back and push 8 to be put on Do Not Call list.  Simple.

Why did you call the unknown caller back?

If the call was from a legitimate source, they would (most likely) have left a message on your answering device or voicemail.

If the call was from a scammer, calling back merely did one or more of the following:

* Verified your phone number, and that it would be answered by a human.
* Possibly incurred international calling charges (some scammers are located in Jamaica [876] and other overseas locations)
* Bothered somebody not associated with the scam - scammers can spoof what you see on the Caller ID!
* If the call was from a telemarketer, your call to them could be interpreted as starting a "business relationship", so the telemarketer could legally continue to call you!
* Added your phone number to a list that is sold or shared among scammers of various types, so even more would try to call you.

Instead of calling back, either ignore the call or get a call blocker to prevent further calls from that number!  (Remember, the DNC list is intended ONLY to block calls from legitimate telemarketers).

They scammers have started using an interactive robot (or a human with a soundboard) and I've been having fun trying to mess with the bot. I asked it a simple math question, and it replied it wasn't allowed to answer personal questions. If you accuse it of being a robot, it might reply "do I sound that bad today?" Canned replies. Same old "free" home security system.

I continue to get these calls even though my number is registered on the Do Not Call registry. It is getting very annoying.

Called me today and yesterday and left blank voicemail less than 1 second long.

Got a call today around 5PM. No message left.

got a message from same number 614-516-0382....I said hellow.....no one was there.  Tried calling that number back, phone rang for a long time, but no answer.
