- Cat| 1 replyI got a voicemail with the same kind of call against me. They said it was regarding a civil case filed in the county courthouse. I called the number back and they said the company name was M&I or PMI & Associates. Very suspicious because the case number they left on my voicemail doesn't match up with anything on file.
I called the county courthouse where I live and they said no civil charges have been filed against me.- Caller: M&I Associates?
- stephanie| 4 repliessame here, said i had a civil case against me, checked my county court-nothing! surprise!! I'm going to assume it has something to do with the payday loans that I have out that went bad when i got laid off. So, not gonna call them back!
I recieve calls like that from two different companies, threatening all sorts of crap. They can't do anything to you, but eventually, out of consience i will have to pay them back when i am financially able to.
The only thing you have to pay on life are taxes. Don't let anyone tell you they will garnish your wages, because no matter what!! they can't!! - Casey| 1 replyThis number called my father's house claiming to represent my bank and said that I was being charged with Bank Robbery because I supposedly took out $680 from my checking account that wasn't there, way back on 12/15/2001.
First off the bank I am with now, did not exist in 2001 (they used the current name of the bank which bought out my bank four buyouts ago, instead of the bank it would have been when this supposedly happened).
Second off, that account was closed in 2006 with no money outstanding or owed, which I verified tonight with their Fraud and Collections divisions.
Third off, I passed a Federal Background check in 2006 so I am sure if I was being charged with Bank Robbery I could not have been given a clearance.
Fourth off, the bank I am with has my contact information - I never lived at the number my father has now, so they would have called my number at my home, not his (which they did not).
The person who called was from PMI Associates and said his name was Sean Taylor.
My advice is that these guys are probably a front for a collection agency and tend to be belligerent and lie or even break the law just to bully you into giving things up. Their names are probably invented, as well as their supposed court docket numbers.
Just tell them you will not speak to them on the phone, and to put it in writing. Don't give them your address: they should HAVE it, obviously, because they will claim there is a court case and so they'd be required to have it to file.
Then hang up.

- Anon209I received a voicemail from PMI and Associates/Carmelita Garcia (Arbitration Officer) claiming that a civil suit has been filed case #PMI-37033 in which I was the defendent. She claimed that she was from the law offices of Shapiro, Alexander, et.al....blah blah blah.
She spoke really fast and did not address me by my name or anyone in particular. She was very non-specific about who this law suit is against. To me this is very suspicious.
I've seen legal documents where a lawyer officially files a suit. In this official document it specifies in legal terms all the details of the situation and parties involved.
I'm glad others have posted their experiences from this suspicious caller who is apparently fishing for personal information and may be attempting fraudulant activities and take advantage of people.
I have no intentions of returning this phone call. If someone is suing you, their lawyer will send you the official documentation addressed to you!
Any punk can prank call numbers in the yellow pages pretending to be somebody so they can trick something out of you.

- CatI got another call from this number saying that their office has a civil claim against me. The guy calling said his name was Civil Investigator Jason Townsend and that I need to call him back and also said good luck.
It seems M&I is nothing more than a debt collector. I've received no notice in the mail from these guys, only a phone number. They also never identify themselves as calling from M&I. I had to find that out later.- Caller: M&I

- Strange'Recieved phone call at my job from 614-586-9890 (voicemail)
Gentleman stated he is Civil Claims Processor Brian Baxter
and that there is a pending civil suit against me in Jackson County.
You or your representing attorney should give me a call back at

File #pmi38476
I checked Jackson County...............nothing...............if there is a case, I assume they are trying to contact me in advance to settle it? I want to see if anything shows up in Jackson County officially. Word of mouth isn't good enough for me. I may call to see what they are talking about. Could be fraud or something of that nature. - JaeI received a call from this number, it was from a woman asking for Rosa Parks. I immediately hung up thinking it was a prank, she called back 2 more times and I decided to answer it the 2nd time. The woman then told me she wasnt making a prank call, she is looking to speak w/a woman named Rosa Parks and that is her real name. I told her she had the wrong number and that was it.
- JaeSo this number called back after I told them they had the wrong number and this time they left a message from Rosa Parks saying the call was in reference to an investigation they had under her and left a name and ext so she could call back.... Sounds pretty fishy to me.
- UNKNOWN replies to stephanie| 3 repliesYou put up a check that was held when you took out your loan, you closed your account, or didn't have the funds available, therefore it's bouncing a check, therefore something can be done. You need to do some research hunny!!!
- M L Pcall saying a civil suite was being brought against me and that I needed to call them back. When I did the lady said the info she had was suspisious looking, but she had my social security # already. Her and the supervison were just rude and refused to send me information or give me any information about there firm or office, and they eventually hung up right after saying that they were just going to take me to court seeking a garnishment.

- 614-586-9890| 1 replyThe same guy Jason Townsend called me again today to say there's a civil case against me and that they tried several times to call. The guy said I or my attorney needed to call him by the end of business day or something will happen. There has been nothing sent to me via mail or anything. These guys must be scam artists.

- TwinkleToes| 1 replyI received a call from Marie Johnson from PMI Associates, 614-586-9890, and said I was being charged and arrested for financial fraud and I needed to speak to their attorney, Mr. Alexander, or hire an attorney to speak on my behalf. I then asked for her to repeat information and she gave me a case number of PMI-42914 located in my local county. Once she said I was being arrested, I got extremely upset and did investigation on this company with my bestfriend.
After I checked their phone number on line, I called them back and Marie Johnson answered the phone (I recognized her voice and her tone) and she claimed to be some other special agent and began to cuss and scream at me when inquiring how they obtained this supposed information on me. Though part of my name was correct and my residential county, she gave me some other person's social security number five times, to which I wrote it down, and said the number didn't even come close to my social security number. I then informed her that she was committing fraud by giving out some unsuspecting person's social security number. She then cursed, yelled and hung up.- Caller: PMI & Associates
- Mission| 4 repliesI received a similar call at my job. After speaking with them and hearing their attempt to strong arm me I called back. When I asked for a fax number or valid address the person put me on hold. Enters Mr. Alexander. I asked for his info he refused he asked for mine I did too. I checked the area code which is for OHIO he gave an Atlanta address with a Florida zip code. When I called back to see if they were registered with the BBB I was told no. Then put on hold and someone came back and said if you call here again I will have a trace put out and have you arrested for harrasment. Duh you initiated the harrassing phone call and now you want to get me for it. If it's valid trust they will give you all the info..they won't. If I owe I will pay but not blindly..Mr. Lincoln Alexander I know you have several complaints filed against you and I also know that you read these entries. My advice to you is to get a life and do your homework. The statute of limitations has expired on anything that you claim is for 2001.

- AceFemMy exboyfriend informed me that they were looking for me. He has an unlisted number, and I never used his number for anything. They said it was a fraud investigation. They then asked me if ---- was the last four digits of my social security number, and I told them no. Which was the truth. Very suspicious. When I asked how they got his number, she said that she was sorry for the inconvenience and I wasn't the person they were looking for.

- 614-586-9890According to Bud Hibbs who runs a web site that lets the public know about bad collection agencies, he said PMI is nothing more than a scam. If they call seeking information not to give it to them as they should already have your name, address and other information. If they threaten you with arrest then they're breaking the law and violating the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act.
By law, a collection agency is supposed to give you their address if you ask for it. This is so you can send them a cease & desist letter via certified mail and have the debt validated. They're also after first contact supposed to send you a letter about the debt so you can dispute it.
PMI is playing the same scam that a bunch of thugs from India were trying to do. They called up people and stated that they were going to be charged with bank fraud and that there was a criminal or civil case pending against you. They stated that if you didn't pay money by a certain time that you'd be arrested or that law enforcement would be sent to your home.
I emailed Lincoln Alexander asking him if a guy named Jason Townsend who kept calling me even worked for him. Mr. Alexander apparently got my email (sent it with a return receipt) and never responded.
If you ever get a phone call or a letter, demand they validate the debt. Also, check to see if they're legally allowed to collect debts in the state you live in. Where I live, debt collectors have to be licensed in the state to collect or conduct business. PMI isn't.
If you're getting harassed by PMI, complain to both the Federal Trade Commission as well as your state Attorney General's office. PMI must follow all the rules and laws in order to collect a debt. Don't give in to their scare tactics.- Caller: PMI
- DoSomeResearch101 replies to Mission| 2 repliesFYI there is NO statute on writing a bad check. Any statute re-activates any time there is activity on an account, it has nothing to do with the date a loan was taken out. Statute begins on the date of the last activity. Activity can be as simple as the lender adding interest onto the account or you calling in to ask a question about the loan. Payments on an account also constitute as activity.
- ThinkinYourSlick| 5 repliesPMI is not a collection office that's why you can't find them. They are a private attny. office and are very selective with whom they represent. All this bashing and slander is because everyone on here is trying to take the easy wasy out. "PMI is doing this wrong....PMI is breaking the law.....PMI is harrasing me". If everyone would take responsiblity for their actions and pay back checks that they know they bounced, then you wouldn't even be receiving calls. Bottom line is you made your bed, now lay in it. Everyone on here is trying to act like they are a victim, but really your all thieves and cons trying to get away with a quick buck. Its money you owe, it shouldn't matter what tactics these people use to get their money back cause they shouldn't even have to be asking for it. When you owe someone, you just pay when you say you will and there wouldn't be any issues with "strong arming".

- MissusJoyGot a call saying that I had a civil complaint against me in Newport News City. My case # was 30332 and the return # was 614-586-9890. Michael O'Neil was the name of the person calling. I see everyone else is saying PMI but it sounded like Piedmont Associates to me. I was freaked out until I saw this page... I've never even been to Newport News!
