CK - 14 Dec 2007I have recieved five or six calls from this number. Random times. I have privacy directory on my landline so when this number comes through there is just a buzzing/fuzzy sound and I've rejected it

Privacy - 21 Jan 2008Have received more calls from this number. This time, they left a message saying, "For sales, press 2", then some fuzzy telemarkting pit noises.

Privacy again - 31 Jan 2008Turns out that this telephone number IS the official ATT/Bell South phone number for the Privacy Director service. If you're getting a call from this number, it's ATT/Bell South telling you there's an anonymous caller trying to reach you. Answer the call, and the automated ATT/Bell South voice will let you hear who is REALLY calling, or give you the option of telling the caller to leave you alone.

Sara - 19 May 2008I got this phone call and it was a recording. it said press one to speak with a representative so i did in order to find out the nature of the call. when i did a rep came on the phone asking if i was "jane smith". I said no. (the person named was familiar to me). I was told that the person in question had listed my number as a contact number. I asked what the call was in regards to and i was informed that information was confidential and couldn't be released to me. The rep then hung up. I called the number back and got another recording telling me what the company was.

ENUFFSENUFF_1 - 3 Oct 2008Please get real... AT&T/BELLSOUTH does NOT give specific or generic numbers to collection services or telemarketers. You subscribe to Privacy Director from AT&T/BELLSOUTH, this feature blocks calls from private numbers (those that choose not to release their number when calling others), and unknown or unavailable callers (some landline and/or wireless providers do not relay their customer's info when they dial other carriers, or they do not release their information at all). The optional feature that you choose to have on your line blocks intercepts calls that cannot be identified and released to the AT&T/BELLSOUTH customer. Since the acquisition of BELL by AT&T, systems are being merged on a regular basis - this TN number appearing as Privacy Director is the feature letting you know that an unidentified caller is trying to call you. Privacy Director has intercepted a call and is then attempting to deliver the call by dialing your number from a TN Switching Office (which identifies the feature on your caller id) - the calling party has the option identify themselves by speaking their name or business ~ You then choose to accept or reject the call. If you are on the Do Not Call Registry List, and it is a telemarketer, you then have the right to file a complaint with the FCC. This is ~ knowldge about the features that you subscribe to, not all about MONEY!!! I had to comment on this one ~ I just couldn't resist!!!

stella - 23 Aug 2008I've received calls from this number many times. When I let it go through - twice - I told them I wanted to speak to the manager. The phone went blank both times. I also threatened to call the FCC and the phone went blank. Who SHOULD we call. I get calls every day. What is the formal group to complain to.

JUSTLETTINUKNOW - 15 Sep 2008Callers with Privacy Director will see this number when a caller has blocked their number. IT IS AN AT&T NUMBER.... and it is part of the service you are paying for. The caller is most likely, a Bill Collector or Telemarkter. If your paying your bills on time.. then its likely a telemarketer.

salvo - 1 Oct 2008I just found out its pretty simple to get rid of this problem.I guess like in my case,I gave up AT&T and they some how have this privacy director service that some how I approved to have it on, which is BS.If you want to turn it off call this # 888 575 6677 and it will ask you if you want to turn it off by pressing a key.Pretty simple, just hope it works.

ENUFFSENUFF_1 - 3 Oct 2008It is highly possible that your calls may be from a telemarketing dialer - most telemarketing companies use them. They have individuals that work from offices or their homes all across the country (possibly Internationally), these companies load thousands of numbers into their dialer - this computer dials many numbers at one time, if there is not an available representative when the call is answered, the dialer then terminates the call ~ or you hear a message telling you how very important your call is and then states that someone will be with you momentarilly.

Ryan B. - 22 Oct 2008These @$$ mangnets keep calling and harrasing me all the time and no one is there. It is always a recording. When you look it up on whitepages.com it shows that it is out of Nashvile, TN. I'v never lived there. I am even on the do not call list. I just found one of their calls on my phone bill where my kid picked up the phone and just stat there pushing buttons. No one was even on the other end. I wish there was a way to sue the phone companies for not doing their job. My number is supposed to be an unlisted number like this f@gs number is, but I can easily find my number plastered all over the internet. WTF!?!?! AT&T and Bellsouth blow big chunks along with the turtle paced F.C.C. That how these ball lickers are getting away with it. Government takes it sweet time jerking each other off to half million dollar boat cruises for a weekend. Thank allot Uncle F*cking Sam for the free country. Free to kill people, free to harras people, free to be screwed by the government.
