They claimed to be from Cigna Health Spring confirming a prescription that I had already. they have never done this before so I tried calling the number back and when I told them why I was calling back...they hung up on me!

    What is that??

I called Cigna and she told me to report it. She said Cigna doesn't do that period.   The number was 1-615-401-4590

I believe this is a legitimate phone number.  Cigna HealthSpring is a new name for the Cigna pharmacy thru Cigna insurance.  I recieve my Multiple Sclerosis drugs through them.  They just called me on that number needing delivery information.  I didn't recognize the number so I did a reverse lookup.

I called Cigna back on a different number and they were trying to contact me regarding my pending prescription delivery.

I got a call from that number today right after Cigna called me to approve one of my medications.  I never answer calls unless I can id the number.  If it's that important they can leave a message which they didn't.  I don't know if this number is bogus or not.  I hope they don't keep calling me.

The number is legitimate - Cigna HealthSpring Rx.  It is generally a message about the status of a prescription.

SAFE.  I didn't answer the first few calls and finally googled the number.   As CIGNA had recently discontinued one of my meds and my doctor had days before prescribed a substitute, and notes by other posters referenced prescriptions by CIGNA, I picked up the next call.  Rep did request DOB and mailing address, which is standard for medical since HIIPAA.  Notified me I'd been approved for the new med newly prescribed, gave me the same Rx name as prescriber.  Will receive document and so will prescriber.  IMO, the number's safe.

Since insurance companies do not "discontinue meds" I would have to wonder why you are posting here. Only a doctor can discontinue a med. Sounds like you are a scammer trying to get people to give you their information and credit card numbers. Looks like this is a shill infested thread to me.

Insurance companies can remove a drug from their formulary, with the result that you will be liable for the full cost of the med if you continue to take it; they no longer cover the cost.

What people often don't realize about a phone number on their caller ID is that the call could be from a scammer, faking the phone number. It's unwise to give out information to a caller: you should always call a legitimate number for whoever claims to be calling. That number might be the same as what showed on your caller ID, but by calling it back you are assured of reaching the legitimate party. There are many reports throughout this site of people saying "This is a legitimate number," which it might very well be. What might not be legitimate is the caller, who has faked the legitimate number.

I didn't answer that number, but called it back and it was Cigna.  I didn't pursue it, but the call came a couple of days after my physician called Cigna to approve a drug that wasn't ordinarily covered on their formulary.  They did tell him that they would be calling me.  I assume this was that call.

Just received a call from this number. As a lot of you say, I don’t answer calls that have no caller ID. Sounds like in this case, it may be a legitimate number. But as JoeyDee says, and I hadn’t thought of, that doesn’t mean it may not be a legitimate caller. They did leave a message that included that they would mail the information to me. If something actually comes then I guess I could have answered it. Still, better safe than sorry!

You can't "hijack" a phone number, but you can "spoof" one. They are as different as a square is from a circle.
