- Robert| 20 repliesJust received a call on my cell from this number telling me that I was about to be arrested. When questioned, the caller
kept wanting to put me in contact with a paralegal office. He refused to discuss this matter any further, so I hung up on
him. He immediately called back and left a voice message telling me that I would be arrested tomorrow.

http://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/ - jacquelyn kuhns| 1 replyI received a call from this number stating that I owe $986 dollars for some payday loan company I never heard of. They told me that I had to pay the whole amount in cash that night or my the next morning I was gonna be arrested and jailed for 30 days pending seeing a judge in this matter and that I was gonna have all kinds of charges filed against me such as bank fraud, theft by deception and theft by electronic device and for closing a bank account malisiously. It was a fridy night around 5pm. I explained to them I never heard of this company. The guy that first called spoke so fast and not very good english that is was hard to understand him. Then lady he transferred me to was named "Jennifer" and also spoke very poor english and said that I either send the money in cash or I was gonna be arrrested that night or the next morning which would've been a Saturday. So she said she would give me 2 hours to come up with the money and to call her back. So I waited about a half hour and called her back and explained to her I don't know who this company is and I don't have that kind of money to get a hold of. So I did offer to send what I had and make arrangements. She stated that no arrangements can be maid it all or nothing. So I hung up and called back another 1/2 later and told her I tried every avenue to get the money. She said ok well then call her back the following monday at 11am or 11;30 am and she would see what she could do. But before she hung up she said if she wasn't available Monday I could try her back after Jan. 2. S0 how can I be arrested if I owe money and it had to be paid by that friday? I went home and looked up the number to see if I could see what "legal firm" they were through and I found this page about it being a scam!!! I filed a report with the FBI and I put my number on the do not call list. Any other suggestions?

- Brandi replies to Robert| 18 replieswere you arrested? I just got the call stating the same thing. scared the crap out of me
- ShillKill replies to Brandi| 17 repliesI'm sorry to hear this happened to you. It is a scam. No one will be arrested. Debt is a civil matter, not a criminal matter. They are trying to scare people so they panic and pay them money.
- Brandi replies to ShillKill| 16 repliesI just called the number back and spoke to jennifer. she states the sheriffs office will be dealing with me. when i asked for their number she seemingly disconnected the line. I am so angry right now that these lowlife scum do this to people and not to mention right before a holiday...... Jennifer is monitoring this page as she told me this so I have this advise for jennifer..... get a respectable job and stop scamming the public who do pay their bills!
- ShillKill replies to Brandi| 15 repliesGlad to hear they didn't get a cent out of you and you called out this low life bottom feeding maggots!

http://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/pubs/pressreleases/extortion_scam.htm - Brandi replies to Tamianth| 12 repliesI have just gotten off the phone with the FBI and filed a report. They also said no worries about jail this is a known scam which I believed as soon as I got to this page and read everything. She says to call the FTC because there is an investigation ongoing so anyone who would like to call here is the number I was given..... 877-382-4357..... we need to shut them down!@!!!!
- Tamianth replies to Brandi| 3 repliesFantastic! Good to hear that! :)
I'm sure this just makes Jennifers day also! - Brandi replies to Tamianthwhen I called back a third time and asked for jennifer to ask again for the sheriffs number who will be "handling" me she said not to worry it will be taken care of and I will be behind bars by morning.......... Then she asks me why I am doing this, I asked what was I doing and she reads word for word what I am posting. MERRY CHRISTMAS JENNIFER AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR. I hope you spend it where you threaten to send others :)
- ShillKill replies to Brandi| 7 repliesGreat news, and thanks for following up here. This is going to be poetic justice --- the criminals impersonating law enforcement in a fake collection scam are going to end up getting brought to justice on Federal wire fraud charges.
- Brandi replies to ShillKill| 6 repliesAnytime. Thanks for answering me in the beginning. I went from panicked to pissed in 5 seconds now its all about helping someone else and hopefully keeping them from getting scammed. Think I will share this on facebook tonight
- ShillKill replies to Tamianth| 1 replyThis is a great Christmas story. Funny thing about Jennifer "monitoring" our threads here is real time is she is so arrogant it would never occur to her that law enforcement could be monitoring this thread or people involved with LE might actually be providing responses. LOL!
- ShillKill replies to BrandiPlease do share this with others. This "fake arrest" warrant scam is an epidemic in the past few months. People from all walks of life are getting called. By raising awareness about these scumbag criminals you are providing a huge public service and getting the criminals where it hurts --- their wallet. Have a great Christmas!
