And auto-dial delay, then someone named Megan asking for a person who no longer lives in the house. I suspect they are a credit card debt collector. They hung up when I asked where they were calling from.

C they called and asked for a person I used to know then hung up and I called back and asked what company this was and they said Check Care

This number has repeatedly called.  It is a recording stating "this is not a solicitation, your number was given to us from a database.  Call 866-????? to receive your important message.  If you do not call back we will continue to call"

i received the exact message asking me to call 866-399-4101.  Does anyone know what this is about.

Its a company that collects on checks you may have bounced at some point.

same problem, when i called back they said someone's name I did not know had referred me to them.  i said i didn't know them and they said they would remove me from their list.

The number is Checkcare. Its for bad checks.. But if it is a wrong number all you have to do is say so, they take your number out and its no big deal. If you are nice to them they will be nice to you. For the most of them. Just have to remember that is their job and they are just doing what they have to to bring home a paycheck. the recording is weird, but if they told you what they were would you call back? Probably not. Plus I think they arent allowed to.

Same for me!  They've called twice now,and I am from Pocatello, ID.   The first time was at night, and was rather frightening due to the nature of their recording.   I talked about it with a friend however, and we decided the weird recording is a scare tactic- which it definitely is.   I put them on call-reject, yet they go right through it, which I do believe is getting downright illegal!

That same number 615-869-0192 called my mothers house at called my mothers @ 3:48pm June 10 2010.  Two problems with this, both legal issues according to the fair debt collections act (http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf).

* They are not allowed to call third parties in pursuit of collection (no one other than spouse or attorney)
* The second problem is that when they spoke with my mother they told her that her phone number was on the account.  That is a lie and they are not allowed to do that either.

By the way, I don't know who called my mother but my mother asked her to call back (I happened to be on my way over that day) which the lady never did, however when I called a couple days earlier the person I spoke with went by the name of Megan whose name I see also on this web page.

Why would the person not call back when they told my mother she would and when my mother stated that I was on my way over?  Its an interesting situation.  What I know for sure is company breaks federal law in pursuit of collections- granted, proving it is another matter.

The company is MEK Inc. and yes they are to collect on bad checks. They called my parent's house and asked if they knew me. My parents unsure of who this company was said they didn't know. The man was extremely rude and said well you either know her or you do not. I called back after getting this message and the same man also very rude said they put my name into a data base to get the number. I explained to him that I never have been attached to this phone number. He said well we got a hold of you. I said well under the Fair Debt Collections Act you are not allowed to do that. he said well I never talked to anyone and I I said yes you did. He then hung up on me. I called back and a woman answered thid time and told me not to worry about it. I wanted to know why he hung up on me. She said well the number was removed. I said well it is illegal for you to be doing this and I was filing a complaint. She said well go ahead and then she hung up on me. This company is out of control and far from professional. I suggest everyone file a complaint against them!

they have been calling our phone and the caller id says mbk, inc. however, when u call the actual 615#, it says that u are calling paytek. sounds fishy to me!! in regards to Jane above, idc if they're trying to bring home a paycheck. bullying someone is not an honest living. so why should we be nice to them when they are instantly putting people down? if they can dish it, they should be able to take it! good luck everyone!!

Quit calling

A woman called and told me how much I needed to pay. I told her that I could not pay the full amount and was in the middle of asking if I could make a payment plan and she said she was sending it to legal and hung up the phone. I called back and a man answered and I was explaining the situation to him and he told me he did not want to hear my sob story when I was just tryin to explain the how rude his co worker was. He also told me the check was written on a closed account and I would go to jail if it was not taken care of now and the account is not closed. I have never dealt with such rude people in my life. They are completly out of control and should not be allowed to talk to people the way they do. All of this over a $10.00 check it's ridiculous.

I got so many calls from this number they almost became family, you know the kinda family you want to have shot! What I did was write a check to Sav-A-Lot grocery, my account was open when I did. The bank was bought out from another bank, for those who had overdraft protection their/my account was charged off and closed. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS whenever you have a situation like this tell the creditor and/or bill collector you will ONLY pay the company you owe. I told the guy at the 615# that I will pay the debt to the place I owe only and not to him. What happens is when you have debt, any old collector can pull your info off the internet via a debt company that has all the info. Then they try and collect, do you realize the money you pay to this collector does not even go to the place you owe it in the first place? I got sued by a collector that suppossidly worked for a local hospital. I paid over 16 thousand when all was said and done only to have the hospital not get dime one and try to sue me themselves!!! ONLY DEAL WITH THE COMPANY YOU OWE! If your debt gets charged off, tell the collector it is charged off and to not call you again. Please people understand deal with the people you have the debt with only! Oh and by the way the people from the collection agency can not have you arrested only the people you originally owe can, and I don't know where you might live but check with your city, I believe they can arrest you for check fraud only if it is over 500 dollars. Generally as a rule if you work with the people you owe and keep a paper trail that they are working with you all will be ok.

My ans machine was blinking when I got home. Clicked it to play----over 3 mins of loud music then a man's voice saying they had gotten my number from the National Database and it was now in their records and they would keep calling if I did not call back and take care of the problem. I called and told the woman answering that they had a wrong number and to take it off their list please. She informed me I was rude, I did not give her any info she needed. She was the rude one. I googled it and found this website. I called back and a different woman answered saying her name was Megan also. Told her she had a wrong number and finally gave her the number. She called me by the name of the people who must have been very bad that had the number before me. Told her no I was not that person. She called me by the wife's name then. Told her I had this number since April 1 and this was Aug 24th. Well then you know them.  No I do not know them. Well I should have told her that instead of telling her they weren't there. Told her I do not know those people. Then she told me not to be so rude and dumb and hung up on me. Don't know if they will take the number off or not. I don't appreciate music playing and taking up all the time in case I get a real call.

After many calls we finally called them back at 866-399-4101 and asked them whom they were trying to reach.  They asked for our number and the servicer then apparently looked it up.  They then said they were trying to contact someone whose name that we did not recognize at all.  With that they said they would no longer call us. They were courteous, prompt and polite.  This will hopefully end these calls.

I called them back.  The rude little *&^% who answered the phone informed me that he had a bounced check of mine.  I had lost my check book recently and had the bank stop payment on a range of checks.  Bob Lawrence Plumbing, in Columbia, MO, had held the check for nearly 20 days and it ended up getting caught up in the range of checks on which I had stopped payment.  Bob Lawrence Plumbing, in Columbia, MO, didn't bother to call me, he just turned it over to a collection agency.  Bob Lawrence Plumbing, in Columbia, MO, should deposit his checks promptly.  I will never do business with Bob Lawrence Plumbing, in Columbia, MO, again and will see to it that nobody else I know does so either.

Yep... It's Check Care... After a solid week of calling between 8:30 - 9:15 A.M., I wanted to see who it the world was calling me so persistently! They were lookin for my sister-in-law it turns out. But she hasn't lived with me in almost 20 years! Weird! I at least hope they stop callling me now. I WANT MY SLEEP!

Call the number back and spoke to Megan.  She asked for my number and said they were looking for someone named "Bella".  Said I'd never heard of her.  She said she'd take us off the list.  No problems, no attitude.
