- Melody replies to mellie_melSame story. I wish there was a way to prevent these calls.
- jamieI was.called by a number and was told to call this number. I had missed the call while working so I tried calling them back and when I did it didn't connect me to anyone.
- Dean| 1 replyThe message I received had me call 517-931-2040. The recording asked me to push #1 then enter my phone number if I wanted off of their calling list. I waited a long time for the message to continue, then was told to call 616-555-1234. The operator said that wasn't a valid number. What's this about?
- Riley replies to DeanThe same thing happened to me have you found any information about who these people are
- Lara60| 1 replyI called 616-555-1234 after receiving an automated call from 517-931-2044 on 21 Jan 10 at 11:41 AM. The automated message told me there was no problem with my credit card, but they could lower my interest rate. Press 1 to talk to a representative. The representative answered the phone and started to tell me what they could do for me if my credit card balance was above $5,000. I interupted and told her I have no credit cards, at which point she said sorry and hung up before I could ask who they were and how they got my cell phone number. I called the number back and got an automated message telling me if I was contacted by one of their sales representatives and wanted my number removed from their list I should press 1. I did that and was asked to enter my number and press #, the recording then said: "I'm sorry I must not have recorded your number properly" so I tried again and got the same response. So I opted to wait for another action and after a long wait was told if I wished to speak to a customer service representative I could call 616-555-1234, which I did. I got a fast busy signal which is normally a sign of a disconnected number.
- SSHBI received a call from 6165974022, then called this # back. It said to call6165551234 if I want to lower my credit card payment rate. I asked if I was speaking to my credit card co., and he said yes. Then he asked me how much credit card debt I have, but I wasn't sure what to say, since I have an outstanding debt which I haven't been able to pay. When I hesistated, it was cut off. Then when I tried to call back a few times I got like a busy signal(network busy) or a message saying my call cannot be completed as dialed.
- Caller: said it was Chase Cr. Card Svcs.
- Call type: Unwanted
- ejwoodI got several calls saying to call back 616-555-1234, but I couldn't get through to find out who this is and how they got my cell number. This is so annoying!
They said they'd "lower my credit card interest rate." - ESEGot a call that from 2312242050 which was an automated system. They said they could lower my VA loan on my house to 4.5 fixed. I already have a VA loan at 4.5 but it is a 5 year arm. system told me to call 6165551234 but the number doesn't work.
- beeberI received the call earlier this afternoon. I called the number to speak to a live person. There was no connect. I am reluctant to even attempt exempting my phone # from their list. I hope this does not continue beyond here.
- MN320I received a call from 269-768-2214, I called back to find out who called msg stated to be disconected from this telemarketer to press the number 1 key. It sounds like it is just away to really get your phone number by entering it in more than once. After waiting a while it provided me this phone number 616-555-1234 to call and chat with a repersentative. They stated about a year ago that they were going to call cell phones and that when they leave a message you are being charge for there message on your cell phone.
- Call type: Debt collector
- report scammerWe have been getting these calls from 616-555-1234 and it must be a scam!
- SkiDid not leave on message on machine.
- Caller: Direct Assist
- AnneGot a call from this number just a little while ago. No message was left. My caller id said that it was "Directory Assistance- Michigan" callling me. Which, on one hand, makes sense. Directory assistance used to be area code-555-1212. So I guess now they have altered their caller id to say it is directory. Called the number back and got a fast busy. I am worn out with these scames.
- JohnThey've called me several times in the past couple days...Whatever happened to the "Do Not Call" registry??? I don't typically answer calls from people I don't know, so they can call all they want and I won't answer :-)
- Caller: Directory Assistance
- Annoyed| 1 replyYep....... getting calls from these "credit card services" every day...........calling from MULIPLE phone numbers. Here's what my caller ID shows: Unknown caller 952-537-1392, Dir Asst. MI 616-555-1234, 000-6937 ( no area code) , Unknown Caller, 652-000-8287 ( BTW there no such area code as 652) and Unknown Name 678-528-6000
It is evident that they are "spoofing" or manipulating their real phone numbers. What I do is wait until either I hear someone in the background, or I go ahead and press #1 or #9 or what ever they ask me to do.......... then I get my SPORTS WHISTLE sitting next to the phone and as soon as a human speaks,
I blow it as HARD AS I CAN into the phone's mouthpiece. The callers are on headsets and cant react fast enough. I guarantee you they'll be deaf in that ear for awhile.
I'm fed up with these constant daily intrusions into my privacy....and the sad part is, you cant stop them. They have beat the system.- Caller: Dir. Asst. MI
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Duane replies to AnnoyedGood idea about the whistle. My story is the same as others...yesterday they called twice, today by 10:45 AM they called again. When I press 1 to talk to a rep, I ask why they are calling me or how'd they get my number and they immediatly hang up.
I'm going tlo get a air horn and use that. If enough people do it, they will have problems getting people to call and maybe it will stop. I don't wish harm on people but something has to be done. Let's make them deaf.
They are invading my privacy. - albert replies to Lara60Thats a scam. theyre trying to get your cc number
