Took a while for the other end recording to start playing, about an all-inclusive travel package.  I didn't listen to the details, I was too busy trying to log on and see if the number was recorded here yet.

Total garbage, ignore this call if it comes in.

2007/08/28 @ 13:38, received call from this number. By chance I activated my call recorder and then picked up. I'm in Toronto, On, Canada.

The call began
   "Macy's, Bloomingdales, Wal-Mart and even Target now have their fall displays up ... Congratulations your name was selected today to receive 5 day vacation to our all-inclusive resort in beautiful Cancun Mexico, followed by an exciting Orlando Florida vacation to Walt Disney World. ... Your price today is only $249 per person ... press 1 for a free call explaining all the details ... press 3 to decline our offer"

So I pressed 1 - I wanted to know where these [***] got my phone number, since it's basically not in use.

I ended up talking to monotone-deadvoice Mark, who told me the he's "an answering service" and the company he worked for was called "Travel Pros". He refused to give me the phone number for his company ("we deal with extensions" was his response when I asked for his company's phone number).

I ended up making a call to Lucre, Inc, the local carrier that 'owns' this phone number (i.e. they are the phone company that owns this phone number):

and spoke to Scott to whom I reported the "harassing" call I received from this number. When I pointed out that I am in Canada he commented that his customer (whoever has been assigned 616-980-2082) has TOS (terms of service) which preclude them calling across national borders.

Anyway, if you want to report this call as harassing or abusive or you're in Canada and want to rat out the dicks who are bothering you, contact Scott @ Lucre!

I've been getting these recorded calls too.  I dial 1 at the end of the recording and when I am in the process of asking the person to take me off their calling list they hang up on me.  I'm a firefighter and just a few minutes ago 'this company' set the entire fire dept's emergeny pager system off.  I'm running like a madman getting my gear on and guess who's voice comes over the air???  You guessed it 'The Macey's broad'. The emergency page activation number is obviously unlisted and this BS could actually cost someone their life...

This will have to reported to gov. and brought to an end!

Call on my voicemail. Call was from 616-980-2082. Voice mail was - nothing. Nothing, but for a very long time. I deleted it, but was curious where it was from as I have friends in Michigan. A little googlin and I found this site. Good to know it wasn't an important call, just this crap.

It seems that if you call the 1-616-980-2082 # you will reach a machine that allows you to punch your ph# in and confirms that you have been removed from their calling list... I guess we'll give it a couple of days to see if it works (knock knock)...

Ps  I also called Macys head office and told them of our Fire Dept. alarms being set off by the calls to the dispatch #.  They were going to attempt to speak to Travel Pros in order to rectify the problem.  Sooo I said that if it happened again the Fire Dept. would call CNN and invite them to shoot footage of firefighters racing into trucks only to hear their telemarketing ad coming over the system.... this was when a superviser got involved.

Just got the same call from 410-774-8177.  In fact, I have two phone numbers here in the house..... sequential, and got the call on each of them, one after the other.

Oh, and I meant to say, I too am Canadian.

I have received this call both on my home number and at my work number. The advertisement was word for word just like what you posted.
After being transferred to an automated removal system, not knowing what the number was so I could call again (to remove the 2nd number), I called Macy's customer service. I did get cordial help from the person on the phone, who claimed to put in the request to remove my numbers.
For those that need it, she also provided me with a do not call # which was 1.800.887.8874
I asked if there was an address I could send a written complaint to, and she provided me with:

Then I found your post. I called Scott and he confirmed that he has gone through this complaint on this customer before and he will be submitting the complaint to his superiors and ensuring that my numbers are removed. He also said that they shouldn't be marketing across the border and if there are enough complaints, they may drop them as a customer.

My husband and I (in Calgary) have received many of these calls, with this exact same message, but the number being called from is 231-224-2056.  Finally we just had our phone company (Rogers) make it so that we don't receive calls that come up as "unknown name" and the like on the caller ID, as we couldn't get the calls to stop any other way.

I live in the states. Don't know why they called me. I get calls across the board from all kinds of telemarketers.

they have called me a few times and I just hang up.  Today I googled the # and found this site.  I did a return call, which was their "automated removal system", entered my # and apparently will be removed from their calling list.  Will it work?  Who knows.

They have also been calling me......early and very late at night.  I've just called and had my name removed too.  I hope it works....very frustating.  I'm from the states.

For those in the US getting these calls, here's some information you'll find useful.

Nearly every call that begins with 616-980-XXXX, is from a shady telemarketing outfit in Grand Rapids, MI.  In most cases, you'll hear a prerecorded message trying to trick you into buying a car warranty, a vacation, dept. store accounts, credit cards, mortgages, etc.  The important thing to remember is that prerecorded telemarketing calls that you don't authorize are a violation of federal law.

The next time you see a phone number on your caller ID that begins with 616-980 (and the odds are very good that their autodialer will call you back), answer it and listen to the entire recording. Then hang up and go here -- https://esupport.fcc.gov/form1088/consumer.do -- to report the violation to the FCC.

They have been calling twice a day for nearly three weeks. Usually hang-ups, no message. So finally I answered. It was Superpages.com wanting me to list business on web. Told them not interested and he actually started to argue with me over this. Told him not to call me again... and guess what calls have continued twice a day this week too... Tried to file a complaint because my number is on the do not call registry, but later researched that because I do business with idearc yellow pages, who also has superpages.com, they can keep calling me....
