- Snow| 2 repliesThis phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number. It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there’s information on www.massfop.org. Plus, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for Massachusetts police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.- Caller: MA Fraternal Order of Police
- not Michael replies to Snow| 1 replyMost charities that call you begging for money for the police are frauds. I'm not sure about this one, but most of them keep 60-95% of the money you donate for themselves.
I do not give money to any charity that calls me. - Mark replies to not MichaelOf course this one is a scam.
If they were legitimate, they wouldn't hide their name on the caller ID, and they wouldn't be constantly changing their number. That's a trick to get you to answer and to keep you from blocking their calls.
And there's the fact that they never leave a message. That's an almost sure sign of a scam.
They've called me 17 times this year from 11 different numbers, all of which begin with 617-245-96
I know one of their undercover stooges will tell me I should call them to get off their list. That's exactly what they want. Then they'll have my ear and try to sleaze-talk me. I'll get even more calls. The call will take more time than it's worth, because they'll prevent me from getting to my point. - NickCalled, didn't leave a message.

- Anne| 1 replyThe call is from the Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police trying to collect money for the fundraiser. However I gave to them last year and was given a choice of picking tickets for a couple of different events. The information they gave out about the event I chose was completely wrong. The number of tickets they promised me for the event was not the number they gave me. They have been calling me almost everyday for a month. I would not give to them again based on what happened last year.

- lindacalled at 9 am on a friday morning. left no message. this would be the 10th time they have called within the last week. all during the day. no messages left.

- Uknown replies to AnneYou are such an idiot to give them money on the first place. People like you is the reason why everyone else is suffering with those fund raising calls. Stupid.
- JonMA FOP - its not a scam, but it is not a good charity either. They donate about 16% of their proceeds to law enforcement, but can still call under the guise of "non-profit". If you want to support your local police / fire dept - go directly to the office and state you want to donate. If they dont take donations directly, they will direct you to exactly who you can donate to.
Tell the telemarker the same thing I do "I donate directly to my local law enforcement" then hang up. The caller ID was MA FOP.
Always check www.bbb.org before dontating to anyone. MA FOP has not provided the BBB with any of its tax information - a bad sign. The Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police does not fit into the guidelines for what the Better Business Bureau considers a charitable business: see http://www.bbb.org/us/Charity-Standards/- Caller: MA FOP

- Catch ScammerThis is a scam. The caller said to me that they would be by to pick up their check for the Retired Boston Policemen's Association. I called BPD headquarters. They said they aren't legit. And I'll have real policemen here waiting for them when they come in.
- Caller: claimed Retired Boston Policemen's Association
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- margGot the call today, caller ID listed "private number" so I picked up thinking it was my sister. The telemarketer sounded like a gangster. Said he was the fraternal order of police. I asked why the number was blocked if they were legit. I told him I didn't believe him flat out. I guess I'll be getting the traffic tickets!
- Caller: claimed to be FOP but # listed as "private"
