got a call from this number; they left NO message; I have a sneaking suspicion it could be related to the upcoming senatorial election on Tuesday ... but I HATE these calls and don't think ANY political calls should be allowed ... a telemarketing call is a telemarketing call, no matter who it's from!!

same here.. no message was left. thought it was related to the election. i called it & got an automated message for the Boston Fraternal Order of Police.

Man asked for the name of the head of household and stated my daughter's name who is the HOH.

Asked if she was home...said "no." He said it was calling from the Massachusetts Order of Fraternal Police and quickly said he would call back at another time as I was asking him what it was in regard to. He avoided my question and hung up.

This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there’s information on www.massfop.com. Plus, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for Massachusetts police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.

This outfit also called my home.  Since my number is actually listed under the person who used to live here over 10 years ago, I knew they just got the # out of the phone book and just said: 'No longer here' and HUNG UP.

Too early in the morning to DISTURB me with a phone call.

Phone rang at 8:45 AM and there was no one on the line.  I have an unlisted number so these calls must be computer randomly generated.  It is not a good time to call a private home for any solicitation.

For everyone's information:

1.  The Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police is not listed with the Better Business Bureau, although the BBB has requested information from them.

From bbb.org: "Not a charity / This non-profit organization does not fall within the scope of the Standards for Charity Accountability."

2.  They are not a 501(c)(3)(i.e., "charitable") organization.

From charitynavigator.org: "We don't evaluate Fraternal Order of Police.
Why not? We only evaluate organizations granted tax-exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and file a Form 990. 501(c)(3) organizations are considered public charities and all donations to them are tax-exempt."

I know it's not a campaign call, because I got a call on Feb. 1 -- weeks after the election.

I also got a call on 1/13/10 (the date as you did) from 617-245-9612, which a web search also showed from the Fraternal Order of Police.

These telemarketing crooks keep changing their numbers so that you can't block them or recognize them when they ring.

If this were a legitimate charity, they would not
 * hide their caller ID (or not show their real name),
 * refuse to leave a message
 * keep changing their number

99% of the people who come here very well know that telemarketers like you come to this web site to spread lies and disinformation. You're not fooling anyone.

just got a call asked for my husband by name when i told the he wasn't home and asked for their name again he hung up. WTF?? caller id ma fop. if they're looking for a charitable cause donations...they blew it!

call from FOP. tried to tell them i'd already given to my local police organization. call message was repeated and then they hung up. recommend everyone give to local police effort rather than these bums. where is the sororal order of police?

Just got the call, too.  I actually asked them to send me the information so I can bring it to the guys I know on the force and have them follow up.  I believe the whole entire thing is recorded because I answered with some responses that would typically generate some sort of personal response and the "guy" just kept plodding ahead with his script.  

As always, if you are interested in donating to your local forces, bring the check right to the station.

I agree with Michael. That posting was obviously an attempt to mislead visitors of this web site.

I got a call from this MA FOP this morning at 10:30, answered, I said nothing, a man said then said hello, I hung up. That's the way to handle these calls, let them know they won't gain anything by calling.

they called at 10:38 am on 2-3-10. i didn't have my glasses on, so i let the machine pick up. no message. this is the 2nd time they have called my tel. #. i will never give to anybody who hangs up.

Just called at 1:05 PM on 2010-02-11; I said "Hello" three times and no one answered.  I hung up.

Also received a call from 617-245-9632 and caller ID showed MA FOP.  No message was left.  Believe it is a Fraternal Order of Police, but more like a Union and not tax deductible from what I have seen on the Web search I did from a previous call.

Sick of these nasty annoying FREAKS calling my house!  How do you make them stop?  My # is un listed and I am on the do NOT call list, so what else can I do?

How do we know that you are not them trying to make us donate, I got the call from the same number 617-245-9632 first he tells me I am not in trouble and then goes into a long winded message talking about the police and how lucky we are to have them and talking about family who lose their loved ones in the line of duty, now I am disabled as it is and I would love to help if I could and if the were legit. I am glad I looked them up before I did anything.
