When I called back it sounded like a fax

they called me today, didn't leave a message

My wife answered the phone and when she told the person I was not home, could she take a message, the person hung up on her.  She tried calling the number back, but it was whistling like a fax line.  No idea what company.

Same here, except that I didn't try calling back.

They called today, but all I heard was my own voice fed back to me after a small delay.  They hung up after about 30 seconds.

Phone number is shown as an "Unlisted Landline" in the Boston area.

Phone company = Broadview Networks, which serves small businesses.

Got a call from this number today... guy was selling chimney cleaning services.

I told him that I'm on all the do not call lists, and that if he calls again I'll register a complaint.

I dialed the number and got a fax machine.

unknown ... probably not one of my friends nor relatives! lol
