Seemed to be a recorded message with poor reception; referencing a warranty for my vehicle; offered options to press 1 for more info or 9 to terminate the call. Pressed 9.
All on my cell, ive gotten calls from 702-520-1471, 702-520-1455, and 702-520-1477. And now from this number. I haven't picked up to any of them and never will now because of this useful website. No voicemails left on any of the calls. However, a dating service text me saying "HI! I got this # from a friend, but i guess you can't guess who i am! My username is scoctoberbaby_4ever on dater.ock.org come to see if you recognize me! Hope to talk to you soon!" And if was suspiciously from phone number 5000. I don't know who got my cell #, but im really getting sick of this! I read on another page of the 702 #s that they try to find out personal information. DONT GIVE THESE SCAMMING ROBBERS NO INFO!
Got this call at the office. Says to press 1 to speak to a representative. So I do. Lady answers, says 'What is your car make, model, and year?' I say take me off of your list. She hangs up. Surprise, surprise. Next time this person calls, I'm going to press 1 and then get an air horn and blow it into the phone! These people suck!!
Call just came through on my cell. I don't answer out of area calls that I don't recognize, figured if it's important, it can hit VM. Checked the internet, came here.
The air horn idea sounds tempting... just don't want to hurt my phone.
I just got a call on my cell phone from this 617-479-8874 #. When I dialed it back it said it wasn't in service. I don't usually answer numbers I don't recognize, nor do I call them back but we do have a nephew who is in the Boston area so I figured I'd try back just in case.
If these people call, go through the process. Tell them you have a 1978 Ford Pinto. True story below...my husband is a telemarketer's nightmare. This is his story:
I got the call again, wanting me to renew the extended warranty on the car. So I spoke to a phone rep this time. He asked for the year, make and model of my car. I told him, "1973 ... Ford ... Pinto."
Long pause. "Sir, did you say, a 1973 Ford Pinto?"
"Yes, that's right."
Another pause. "You have an extended warranty on a '73 Ford Pinto, sir?"
"Yeah, well, the sales guy talked me into it. And hey, it's been worth it. Those car repairs can run into some bucks, ya know." After a pause, I continued: "When you spend a hundred and fifty bucks to buy a car, you want to protect your investment."
Long, long pause. Finally: "I don't see a '73 Ford Pinto listed anywhere in our system, sir."
I told him, "Well, it's brown. Maybe that'll help."
He hung up. ~~~~
Now when I try this, they hang up as soon as I tell them it's a 1978 Ford Pinto. They know I'm onto them, and they stop calling.
How funny! Was on a call to a friend in L.A. when caller ID shows up "617-479-8874" I ignored the call and googled the number after I hung up. Got the "Rose Davis" info as above and figured this to be just some sort of telemarketing ploy! Sneaky bastards! But somebody's gotta do it! LOL!
Got a phone call from this number to my cellphone... I just ignored the call. I rarely answer phones from numbers I don't recognize-- especially if they're from out of state. I definitely don't want to get scammed with a huge phone bill... better to be safe than sorry.
I got this call on my cell phone but I didn't reach it in time, I though it was my friend who I told him to call me and I thought this was his area code from college, so I called right back, I didn't alter the number, I just hit send and it says something about "not a working number, if you think you have reached this message in error check your number and your area code" I googled the area code first and it said Boston so it confused me then I registered in google as
Rose Davis (617) 479-8874 1227 Sea St, Quincy, MA 02169
