- miker417Caller ID said "Belmont MA", which is purposefully obscure. Nonetheless I answered, and a pleasant lady asked for my wife by name. She said she was "calling from Walgreen's" about a "prescription clarification". I said I'd take a message, but she wouldn't give me her number and asked when she could call back. I said we don't give out that information, but if she'll give me her number we'd call back. She refused, saying a computer made the call. Hmmm. We hung up amiably. I'm assuming this is a telemarketer.
- Caller: Possibly Walgreens
- Call type: Telemarketer
- PeteThey have called everyday for the past four days. Nobody answers.
- EherbyThey are with the Good Start Program. Drug companies pay them to follow up with you concerning new perscriptions.
- Caller: Good Start Company
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- point| 1 replyGot the same call, claimed they were calling on behalf of Safeway. I researched not true, Safeway walgreens do not do this. If they were from a drug company they would say so. Do not give out information.
- 1111Have been getting calls everyday from this number. Sometime 4 or 5 times per day. We don't answer.
- MikeThe callers are from the GoodStart program which works through local pharmacies to offer support for various drugs. Since the program works through the pharmacy's central office, the guy behind the pharmacy counter is sometimes unaware of the program but the service is legitimate. It's also free -- they aren't telemarketers.
- mark| 2 repliesI second Mike's comments - these calls are from the GoodStart program and are legit - they are not telemarketing calls. To Miker417's comment above, the lady who called can only speak to the person who owns the prescription, not to the wife/husband. The goal of the program is to assist patients who are new to therapy. The service is free and no information needs to be disclosed by the patient. If the service is not needed or wanted, that's not a big deal and perfectly fine. The pharmacy is reaching out to the patient to learn if they need/want a helping hand as a way to say thank you for shopping with them.
- AnnI received a call on my cell phone from a gentleman stating he was from Winn Dixie. If this is regarding any medication, I will discuss this with my doctor or pharmacy. My cell has a block feature and I have blocked this phone number so I will not receive any future calls.
- jim replies to markstop bothering everybody!
- Fred| 3 repliesDidn't answer, last four was 8702, otherwise same schtick. Mentioned the GoodStart thing, they knew the name of the pharmacy (I'm in Ohio) and called within minutes of my doctor e-scripting a new med for me. Found the whole thing creepy, esp. this is about the only thread I found that gives some detail what they want.
God only knows what info they are sharing with these people - the Privacy Act of 1974 got thrown out with the bathwater, now for "identification" purposes any and all info can be shared. My drug plan coverage is outsourced via a 3rd party but nobody ever asked me what personal info I'd like to share. Translation: They have it all.- Caller: Pharmacy
- Fred replies to Fred| 1 replyUpdate: My guess is Big Pharma is behind this. I found out my new drug was a name brand drug (one heavily marketed on TV) and I'm betting that the goal of the "program" is to make sure you STAY on that medication - whether you want to or not. THAT is why the pharmacy itself may not be aware this is going on.
- FG replies to pointI got the same call --- and it was just weird - I refused to tell them anything.
- marbleann replies to markYes I want to mirror what some other people are saying. They are calls from Walgreen's GoodStart program. I know because they call me for the insulin I take. They just ask if you have any questions and tell you all about the medicine and if you want to talk to a pharmacist about it, They are not selling anything because you already using the medicine they are calling you about. It is actually a good service...so far.
- marbleann replies to FredThe pharmacy knows because I got a letter before they called from Walgreen's home office telling me about the program.
- barktalkI got a letter telling me that I should expect a call from GoodStart, an organization sponsored by the drug manufacturer of my new prescription. The Letterhead had my pharmacy. Fred's. I feel that there is something unethical about a pharmacy passing along any personal information to any third party. Where else is this information going?
- Maija Strauts-McClureNo message., but I have gotten calls from this number before. When there is no message I have no way of knowing if it is legitimate. Sounds like a possible Pharmacy telemarketer from the comments others have left.
- Caller: unknown
- Kanona replies to FredThe Goodstart program is a complimentary follow up service for customers on important medications. It is a way to make sure people are informed of the medicine they are taking and to get them motivated with taking care of their health. If at any time you let the caller know you are not interested you can let them know and they will end the call and take you out of the system and they give you a # to call if you want to stop receiving further calls. Many people are appreciative of this service as it is only something free and helpful to the patient.
- DianaUnwanted phone calls from them and I want it to stop.
