Says that he is interested in a car that I have on Autotrader,   Very suspicious because he lives 1200 miles away.

Receiving texts from someone at (617) 706-6207 responding to an ad I have on Craig's List.  Wants to pay me via PayPal.  Suspicious.  I looked up Craig's List Paypal scams online and apparently this is not uncommon.  Will end up wasting my time as they try to get money out of me and the PayPal payment won't be legit and/or could be from someone else's hacked account.  Definitely don't trust.

Definitely a PayPal scammer.  Wants to buy my car via PayPal.  I sure hope nobody falls for this stupid trick!

Just got a message too. I listed my car on craigslist last night. It sounded very general which is suspicious IMO, glad that i looked this number up before responding back to them.

I got a text 4 AM in the morning saying he is interested in my car I have for sell in cars .com and wants to pay with paypal. sure enough I got suspicious and looked through internet and I guess I was right. Don't fall for these people.

He/she texted me last night about a car I have on Cars.com and asked about a PayPal account.  I don't have one so I guess he's out of luck.

I got a text at 1am from that number with a general message saying if I'm still selling the car. Does not appear reputable.

Same here. Cars.com.  Says my asking price is very reasonable and affordable. Do I have a PayPal account? Total scam. Thanks for heads up, everyone.

Does the person texting from this number not realize that their number is posted everywhere on the Internet as a scam caller? Nobody wants them waiting their time so stop calling and get a job like the rest of us hard working Americans!

received text inquiry this morn 617-706-6207 regarding car I posted yesterday for sale Craigslist and Cars.com. I asked them to call to verify purchaser profile, no further response. Had similar experience yesterday from a 305 area code text (didn't save number) with follow up email from "jt45045@gmail.com, Juliet". I spent a lot of time sending add'l pics and answering questions until "she" said she wanted to buy my car asap for her dad, full price, site unseen, and would have a carrier pick up car if I would arrange a paypal transaction with her. I stopped at that point, searched the email- another multiple reported scam. Darn! I'm new to this, but happy to have sites like this to learn and share. Received a text about purchasing my vehicle on line, not comfortable with that much money changing hands over internet, glad I checked the number!

I just got a text from this number about a car I am selling in Craigslist and Cars.com. I'm glad I found this. god bless the internet. the text says:

Good to have your reply. I'm completely interested in buying it, I would like to know if is still in good condition and how much is your last asking price.
My transporter is coming to inspect and test drive the vehicle after payment is completed. Do you have paypal?

He texted me at 4am also. Doing the same thing. Got it from Cars.com.  unreal.

Just happened to me at 4am. Looked up the number. Thank you guys for posting all these. It felt suspicious. Language seemed off and the fact its 4am.

Scam artist trying to buy my car from cars.com. He's apparently attempted this with quite a few other people.

Same person, same email but with a different phone number:  260-676-7392.  Total scam wanting payment by paypal.

This guy called me and said the price was reasonable and wanted my email for paypal … I said I had to invoice him and he sent me the following: Stevenjohnson079@gmail.com …. The whole thing sounded fishy so I Googled his number and ended up here… Perhaps a scam man…. I called this gmail account to ask him to call me on my phone and I got a message that said that was a text number only…. Then I texted him to call me …. Then I texted him not to contact me again...
