- NancyGot the same call couple of hrs ago, VERY pushy and believable claiming to be an officer from DEA, Anthony Williams. Either they'll send a warrant for my arrest or pay the penalty fee of $3,600...I went to my local police, the officer almost laughed but he confirmed this is a complete SCAM.

DEA Warns Public of Extortion Scam by
DEA Special Agent Impersonators
The Drug Enforcement Administration is warning the public about criminals posing as DEA special agents or other law enforcement personnel as part of an international extortion scheme.
The criminals call the victims (who in most cases previously purchased drugs over the lnternet or by telephone) and identify themselves as DEA agents or law enforcement officials from other agencies. The impersonators inform their victims that purchasing drugs over the lnternet or by telephone is illegal, and that enforcement action will be taken against them unless they pay a fine. In most cases, the impersonators instruct their victims to pay the "fine" via wire transfer to a designated location, usually overseas. If victims refuse to send money, the impersonators often threaten to arrest them or search their property. Some victims who purchased their drugs using a credit card also reported fraudulent use of their credit cards.
Impersonating a federal agent is a violation of federal law. The public should be aware that no DEA agent will ever contact members of the public by telephone to demand money or any other form of payment.
The DEA reminds the public to use caution when purchasing controlled substance pharmaceuticals by telephone or through the Internet. It is illegal to purchase controlled substance pharmaceuticals online or by telephone unless very stringent requirements are met. And, all pharmacies that dispense controlled substance pharmaceuticals by means of the lnternet must be registered with DEA. By ordering any pharmaceutical medications online or by telephone from unknown entities, members of the public risk receiving unsafe, counterfeit, and/or ineffective drugs from criminals who operate outside the law. In addition, personal and financial information could be compromised.
Anyone receiving a telephone call from a person purporting to be a DEA special agent or other law enforcement official seeking money should refuse the demand and report the threat.

- DVI had a message from a person named Anthony Williams claiming to be a DEA agent wanting me to return a call to (617) 892-4697 Ext. 208. I called the number and got a recorded female voice saying it was a DEA office with instructions for callers to leave a message . Sounded odd so I decided to check it out on the web. I'm glad I did. I do not buy meds other than those my physician subscribes for me from reputable pharmacies and never from random online sources. Thank you for providing the information on this site.

- JoyScumbag is right! Just got a call from Anthony Williams tht I had a court order for my arrest. I found it very odd you would call sumone before you arrest them. He had a heavy accent & said doc# CPLK89. Buying online drugs was a crime. I let him talk while I googled the doc #. All I can say is thank goodness for the internet! After I saw it was a scam I hung up & he had the nerve to call me back. Saying since I'm not cooperating he'll have the DEA come & arrest me! Very suspicious I have filed a report on the doj website

- Law-Abiding CitizenGot the Special Agent Anthony [***] Wiliams and told him I just looked up his number on the internet and he should change the number as people know it's a scam job. What a boob! Oh really, he says. Guess he'll need a new Magic Jack phone number. At $19.99, they buy them buy the truckload, get a number, and can call you from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. They don't even have to register. Magic Jack should be put out of business. Also filed complaints at the DOJ & DEA websites.

- AnnoyedI got the same call, but mine was from "Special Agent Javier Pena", ext 2011. When I called back it turned over to a voicemail left by a female from "the DEA" with dead-end instructions to leave messages for various agents. Glad I read this thread.
