This number called my work number and left a message saying that there was a report of fraudulent activity in my area about name associated with my ssn.  they claim they are calling from the processing and summons division but don't give a company number.  They also leave a case file number.  Interestingly, I got almost the exact same message from 901-866-5961.  When I looked up that number in phone notes there were numerous complaints regarding this 901 number.  They then left a second message at my place of employment saying the same information but this time the case file number was different which goes to show that this is a scam.

I, too, got two calls today, from both of these numbers, with the exact same recording.  The "case number" is almost the same, too, but they left out one number on the second call.  So irritating!  617-939-0065, 901-866-5961.  I've also received the same recorded message - the only thing different is the name inserted, mine in this case - from five other phone numbers over the last couple of months.  I wish there was someway to shut these people down.  They call my office, and I can not block calls on that phone, so I let them all go to voice mail and then delete them eventually when they fill up my voice mail.  The other numbers have been 317-200-3261, 701-341-1717, 216-920-7714, 516-778-9371, 603-856-0867.  Sometimes they spoof a local number, sometimes they let their number show on the caller ID.  So sick of them!!

File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.  I have received 4 calls, all different numbers and have filed complaints with the FTC about each one.  You can file online.

I received a very intimidating threatening call from 617-939-0065 earlier today. O received 2 other similiar calls a few weeks ago. The caller from this number left a very intimidating threatening voicemail msg about a supposed fraudulent case under my ss#. They even had my name!  I immediately called my husband after listening to the msg. He assured me not to feel upset or threatened because it surely sounded like a scam.  My husband called the number and it just rang and rang then went to voicemail. We called it back again, still no answer. I'm reporting the number,

They are a harassing collection agency.I blocked them and all their numbers and they left threatening messages on voicemail. Now I changed my number and got a 2nd throwaway number if I need to give number out to certain people-loans,etc.That,s how collector,s get you phone-when you apply for loan, etc. Also if these jerks are reading this1-statute of limitation is 4 years in California, mine issue is WAY over that 2,it,s ILLEGAL anywhere in USA to threaten a warrant, arrest, etc for non payment of bills

This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, etc. all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

They certainly won't get anywhere with that kind of immaturity.

Some bytch answered.  Refused to tell me what this was about.  Their recording are never a live voice.  If they are trying to scam someone, they certainly will never get anywhere that way.

Wish there was a way to lock them up and throw away the key.  But I have been thru the FTC.  They always seem to require information that is never given and therefore they won't proceed on anything.

I received a strange voicemail from a Boston number. They said it's from the summons division... Saying that I will be served my summons and that charges have been filed against me using my name and social security number in my county. Once served, my rights will be forfeited.

An actual Process Server is not going to have any conversation with you about any debt you owe, nor will they demand payment from you. If something like this happens, immediately call local law enforcement and make a full report including as much descriptive information as you can give them of the person impersonating a court officer.
