Caller ID reads, Chester IL. - UnknownFuture Now Energy trying you to switch your Nicor service to their company.
- Caller: Future Now Energy
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Kinda| 2 repliesI answered this call. They claim to be part of NICOR and are switching my service. I couldn't get their provider name. They claimed they had my records and was in "good standing" so they could switch me. Tired of this and then NICOR claims they don't approve of these calls but can't stop them
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Julie| 1 replyThey claimed to be "Energy Now" "following up on something that appeared on page 2 of our Nicor Gas Bill." Which is total bullcrap because No one here spoke with anyone about anything, and we never deal with "Independent/Alternative" utility suppliers. I told them I am on the DO NOT CALL list and to remove me immediately from their call list.
These people are sleazy bottom feeders!- Caller: Energy Now
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Gompers replies to Kinda| 1 replyNicor cannot stop them! Anybody can call you up and claim they are Nicor-approved. How is Nicor supposed to control that?
- Gompers replies to JulieScammers do not pay attention to the FCC rules about the do not call list.
- Lynnsame thing here. said they were from Nicor. said they can save me money as it was written on my bill. said she would hold as I grab a pen since she called me. Told her I would call Nicor and ask about savings. She hung-up....FAST!

- JCalled up asking me to check on page one of my Nicor bill. I asked who they were calling for and they hung up immediately.
- Caller: Chester, IL

- me againI am so tired of this! BLOCKED them!
- Caller: CELLULAR CALL
- LB| 1 replyMany of these companies are scammers. Nicor customers are allowed to select an alternate company to supply their natural gas. These cold callers are trying to get you to allow them to make the switch so they can charge you their rates. Most alternate suppliers don't save you money.
Avoiding Natural Gas Scams
• Don't sign up for any offer on the spot. You may be charged a hefty termination fee if you later want out.
• Don't give out your utility account number to any sales representative at your door or over the phone.
• Don't sign up for a new supplier until you compare the prices and terms of service with other companies, including your utility.
• If you're not interested in switching suppliers, ask your gas utility to put a block on your account, which will prohibit any unauthorized changes to your service.
• If you don't want unregulated gas companies to bother you with a sales pitch, get on your utility's do-not-market list. Nicor customers should call 1-888-642-6748.- Call type: Telemarketer

- LarryThey called me claiming I could get a yearly 10% rebate check as I have "good standing" and am not receiving govt. assistance. It's just a hook to get U to leave Nicor.

- DJ replies to LBThanks to LB for those 2 tips. I will be doing that for sure. Will check with Comed to see if they have similar account safety features.
- Sandy replies to GompersThis is just an FYI for everyone. I called Nicor and was put on the DO NOT SOLICIT contact. The real energy solicitors will not call you because you can report them and they will have to address the issue in order to continue trying to sell their services. Legitimate services are posted on the utility sites so you can see if they are legit or not to begin with. The scumbags obviously will call no matter what. It is just another step in trying to ward off these phone calls. You can do this with Comed also and if they do call and are legit then ask to talk to their supervisor and tell them to not call again or you will report them. Document your phone call to solicitor and get a name and keep it in case it happens again. Then you can report them and they will be reprimanded. Nicor can stop the calls for legitimate providers. If in doubt go look on their site and you will see the different providers on there. You can also have a written notice sent to the utility companies and stipulate that your service is not to be changed over unless you send a written consent to switch your service. I hope some will find this information useful.
