618-650-5546

This is likely Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville.  If you or someone in your family went to school there (SIU-E), this is likely the alumni department hitting you up for a donation.   (618) is the correct area code for Edwardsville Illinois, and the university phone system had a number of exchanges that started with 65x-xxxx.  I called the number back but it was busy likley an auto-dialer.  They left no message, which is  unusual - they used to so so.

Perhaps because I blocked an earlier number?

At any rate, SIU-E, likle all colleges and universities, do send donation papers in the mail - you can donate that way.

Frankly, all the phone scamming has probably really severely cut into the ability of schools to hit up their alumni.  Too bad,
But perhaps they and other legitimate phone operations, such as those that conduct surveys or polls  can mount some
pressure on the government to do something about this issue?

As for me - only my kids can call to ask for money - and even they have to work hard for it sometimes.
