Harassing phone calls saying they are going to put me in jail

Definitely a scam. They barely speak English and are trying to say that I was going to jail tomorrow Hahahahaha oh man.

Received a message from an alleged IRS official claiming a criminal case #CH94436 was in process and that I needed to call back to discuss the matter.

The first message on 4-22-2015 was badly distorted and sounded mechanically recorded by them and left in my voicemail.

The second message on 4-23-2015 was clearer.

I was advised to call back, not ignore the call, etc.

Caller stated he was from the IRS criminal division and indicated I will lose my job and be sent to jail tomorrow. Would not give any other information

I just receive a call from 6195502584 case# CH94436, first sounded like a recording the person left a name LT Alex Watson.
When I called back it a gentleman with an Indian accent answered he was very hostile to me and told me he will put me in jail for three years for back taxes.

I just called 311 and they said make the complaint to Department of Treasury, 800 366 4484, www.treasury.gov/tigta to make a report as this is fraudulent.

It is a scam ! You couldn't barely understand the person and told me my employer would be notified and I would be arrested at work. As soon as I told him I was reporting the number and knew it was a scam, he hung up

Mr.Watson called and left the same message as above I call back and he explain the same info as above  individuals and then hung up. I called back  and said I had Sgt. Anderson on the phone he hung up.lol

So, I'm going to be arrested on Monday and spend 3 years in jail. Same Indian dude hung up on me. I called back. He said a bunch of bad words and hung up. I called back and swore I will call him all day and all night. Messing with the wrong person. I called him back and told him I am with the FBI doing an investigation. Number is now busy. Hope I can talk to him tomorrow and tell him to screw a camel again!!!

This is an scam and not the IRS, please do not give them any information at all.

Please tell them you are going to report them, but tell them you work for DHS and what building are you in, and they hang up the phone

My brother was hit for $5500.00 so please ignore them, its a scam

Received a call from this number with a man grunting and making extreme sexual noises into the phone.

I refcieved a voicemail over the weekend that if I didn't call that id go to jail. So I did, knowing I owe no debt my first contact I cussed them out told them they were a scam and they hung up. 2nd attempt I played victim to see how far I could get. After going back and forth for about 10 min and they cannot give me any info on my so called tax debt, telling me the police would show up at my door tom. morning. they hung up on me again. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEPS ANY INFO. I own Tax offices, and the IRS does not practice business like this. IF YOU HAVENT RECIEVED ANY LETTER FROM IRS YOU DO NOT OWE ANYTHING!!! DO NOT GIVE THESE PEPS ANY INFO AT ALL!!!!

Same as everyone else got a message from the same number as above from the same Indian sounding guy telling me I was going to be dealing with the police about tax fraud and they said I was gonna be arrested by the police tomorrow. Same story. All lies. Unfortunately they got my S.S. # pretty messed up.

I got the same harassing phone call yesterday. How do they get your information, and one of the comments stated they got his social security number? This is pretty scary!

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

The IRS isn't going to call a person if owed back taxes they mail letters and garnish your wages if the issue doesn't get resolved ..
