called threatening failure to appear claim

Got a message from the same number.  Claimed to be John Williams with Legal Support Services.  Wanted to make sure someone would be available between 8 and 4 to accept papers.  Also mentioned failure to appear.

Any ideas

I had a similar situation by a Bill Blanks, had mentioned a court order from the Sheriff. I think they are fake.

Had the same thing. Debated whether to call back, as I thought it may be a scam. They had/have Tue last four of my social & my address. This is very scary. When I called and questioned as to whether they were a debt collector he said no would you like to be removed from the list. But now about a half hour later a new number called from Florida, which is how I found this site. Do we still live in a free USA?

Talked to an atty who told me this is a fraud scam and to report it to the fbi that somehow our info has been sold to a con artist trying to extract money if you go to the fbi website it claims how to handle these calls

It is a total scam.  They purchase your old skeleton debt, use scare tactics to get you to contact them.  They scare you with their legal bs which in most states the statute of limitation has expired but once you make a payment you reset the clock on the debt. If you were going to get sued you would receive certified mail or delivered by the sheriff and they don't warn you ahead of time.  Listen closely you can tell the moron is reading off of a card and usually it's from their house.  Some idiot had his wife/girlfriend yelling in the background! Delete msg and move on!

What a crock this is. I got a call this morning claiming I was part of a civil suit for a credit card I disputed over a year ago, because it wasn't mine. Scary part is she had my social, address, and maiden name. I told her I knew it was a scam and she got very upset. I told her I was going to report them to the FTC and she just kept screaming at me, "No you won't, no you won't ". Guess, what? Yes, I will. Jerks
