SCAM Claims your computer is being compromised and being used for hacking other computers. They want to take over your computer. They called me back after 30 minutes and from this number. The first number they called from was through Texas. I spoke with two people that sounded like they were from the Middle East. They claim they're affiliated with Microsoft? NOT!!

Received a call from this number this morning.  I did not answer it because I did not recognize the number.  No message was left.  I tried calling the number back, but it was a fast busy signal, like a reorder.  Probably a scam.  Looks like the government would do something about all the phone and internet scams going around.

OBVIOUS SCAM. He said my computer was comprised. Told me to turn on my computer and follow his directions. Instead I questioned him about the phone number, his name, the company's name. I was told I did not need to know and given same message about my computer was comprised and I needed to turn it on and follow his directions. I said, I do not understand, and he hung up.

Its a scam! The steps you will be guided through allows the caller to remotely access control of your system. They will then lead you to a page that shows you the viruses on your system (it is fake)

You will then be told it will cost you $'s to remove the virus and they will ask for credit card information.

During the entire proces they will ask mundane questions to seem interested but actually they are designed to lower your guard. They may ask: how old you are, if you live alone, once they access your computer they can see your desk top/screen saver. If you have pictures of your family/pets etc on your desktop/screen saver they may ask the names/ages of your children/pets etc. These are often answers to security questions for your bank/credit companies etc.

It is even possible they are setting you up for a burgalry.

    Be advised:
NO LEGITAMATE ANTIVIRUS COMPANY WILL COLD YOU TO TELL YOU THERE IS A VIRUS ON YOUR COMPUTER. So if you get such a call hang up. Or ask for a call back number, hang up, then call the local police and report it.

NEVER give out personal information over the phone or through the computer if you did not initaiate the call, to a number or person YOU know to be legitamate.

Called by this number, wanted me to turn my computer on so they could help me get rid of a virus.  My computer is WELL protected and NO WAY could ANY virus have gotten into my computer.  I told them I wanted to speak to a supervisor and then lost connection.  A different number called a few seconds later saying they were the supervisor and I needed to let them help me get rid of the virus I have.  They said they worked for Microsoft and I had signed up for the service through Microsoft.  I don't ever remember ever signing up for such a service.  I told them so and hung up.

Got a call from a foreign woman saying she was a technician checking on my computer because they were getting some signal from my computer that something was wrong.  She wanted me to go to my computer! That is exactly what they do and get access to it in order to "clean" it from viruses.  Be. Careful.  It is a scam.  Be alert.

    The Old Girl
Second call in two days - both made by a male with an east indian accent, asking me for my computer passwords as they can see I have a virus. I told them to get lost and not call me again as I do not have a computer. The call yesterday was from 888-347-6441, and the one today from 630-859-9364. Can something please be done about these scammers? It is disgusting.

Received a call from this number from a man with a horrible eastern accent. When I told him I couldn't understand him, he slowed down and told me I had a computer virus. I told him my computer was just fine. "No, no, you have virus, I must fix it". I said "listen here you [***], I know this is a scam, get off my phone".
He said"You dirty [***]". I laughed so hard, he hung up. I will be reporting him to the government.

My husband answered and the caller said our computer would be blocked unless we followed the callers instructions and allowed him access to our system.  We told the caller we'd call him back and he gave us a customer care number (567-244-0677) and his name, Charlie and his Employee ID number MS05C.  He thanked us and hung up. Obviously a SCAM!!!!

Nothing more jarring than having your phone ring at 3:30 a.m.  I wish the gov't could do something useful--like regulating phone use.
