- todd| 1 replyI answered the call because I was expecting a call from Chicago, instead a got this scam. They claimed they were calling from "Windows" and have flagged my computer as having serious problems with the OS. This is a scam that is currently running worldwide. At best they try to sell you their protection software, at worst they take over your computer.
I was already aware of this scam, so when they called, I decided to play with them. First I asked them how they knew it was my computer. They said that they tracked it to my IP address. I ask them what was the IP address, they said another department took care of that and they didn't know. How did they connect the IP address to my computer to my phone number. They said that this information was registered with Microsoft. Next I ask them what OS version was I running, they could not answer. However, they kept insisting that I had major problems that would prevent my computer from working but they could help me if I just followed their instructions. I asked if it would be okay if I recorded the call so that I could catch everything they said. They hanged up.
Remember Microsoft would never call you about anything. This is a scam. Do not fall for it.- Caller: "Windows"

- Driver| 1 replyThis was the second call I received from this number. Both times the caller said it was regarding my payday loan. The first time I informed the caller that I did not have a payday loan, and he had the wrong number. Today I asked who he was calling for and he told me something about a bank in Chicago. I informed him that I did no business with such a bank and he tried to tell me that they had many banks in different cities. Then he wanted me to talk to his supervisor and update my information. I ended the call and am about to put this number on my call rejection list.
- SkuchieI'm in Canada and I just got this call from 630-924-9152. Was a guy with a very heavy east Indian accent. The angle was that my computer sent a warning message to Microsoft. I decided to play along. He said I have ignored the problem long enough and my computer is in trouble. When I said I actually don't have a computer, he said "then why are you wasting my f***ing time you stupid a**h***! Why don't you just hang up!" I laughed at him and said "wow, do you kiss your mother with that mouth?" and HE hung up. Got him good. He was mad! ha ha. Keep them talking. At least they will have to pay either a long distance bill or you will waste their time and prevent them, for a little bit of time at least, from moving on to the next person.
- Caller: Unknown. They didn't say

- JARAKAThere are a group of scammers that work together. When you expose them you will receive calls from many different "spoofed numbers". They are stealing phone time from phone companies using disconnected numbers.

- MacReceived two successive calls from same - broken english accent - individual identifying himself with anglo name but with a pronounced Indian accent. Caller ID indicated, "McDonalds." Second call, Caller ID, 845-469-9827, identified himself as the first caller with same message claiming that I have a computer virus. I hung up without further conversation.
- Caller: McDonalds
- Debrasame as most of you, claimed he was from Windows Technical Department. Someone at work just mentioned she had the same call too.
Has anyone reported this to MicroSoft? Bet they have the technology, time and $ to track this down, stop it and make sure it doesn't happen again. - TrishWe've been getting calls from this company claiming to be with Microsoft Windows. I said 'I'm not interested in your hacking services' and from there the call went so very wrong. The guy calling (with an Indian accent) became VERY vulgar and explicit (I can't repeat here what he said!!) He said he would continue to call back until I agreed to sleep with him (not in those words, but again, can't write the language here that he used). I had hung up & he has called again. He hung up on my husband, but has called again since.
- Caller: Obscene caller

- JennI received a call from this number and from 707-822-9870, witch are both disconnected, from peoples saying there from Microsoft to help me clean up my computer. Of course it is a fraud and I figured it after accepting to pay them 129,99$ US but I was able to save my computer by cutting off Internet.

- SueCaller with thick middle eastern accent asked to speak to a member of my household and said that he had information about her computer being infected with a virus. He claimed that he could fix it for her. He asked her to go to the website www.pronerds and that she could call him back at 888-666-7552. Caller id showed the name as McDonald's and the number 845-469-9827. Definitely a scam.

- DeniseI got a call form this number yesterday. The woman who called, who had an accent, kept telling me that my computer had just sent them a message saying that someone was trying to hack into it. I asked what company she was calling from, she told me V60, I told her that I had never heard of them, and didn't know what they did. I then asked her how she got the information that there was a problem with my computer, she told me that my IP address showed up on their computer, when I asked how she got my number, she told me that they contacted my server. I told her that it was [***] and that if there was problem with my computer, my server would contact me themselves and send out a technician. She heaved a big sigh and said that she was only trying to help me, I told her that the only person she was trying to help, was herself to my computer, I told her to listen very carefully if she wanted my answer to her help, and then I hung up on her.

- Michelle.HI just received a call yesterday from this phone number. It was very disturbing. A man with an indian accent told me he was from Australia and wants to be my friend he continued to tell me how he is in love with me. When I asked who the hell he was and how did he get my phone number he told me that he was looking at my facebook profile and that's how he got my number. My number or any of my other private information is not on my profile.I was frightened and hung up. Today I saw the same number on my caller display when I had returned home.
Does anybody know how to put an end to these phone calls ? - NormaI also just got a phone call from a man with an indian accent. He said he was calling from Micro - Soft and it was about my computer. I hung up.
- AvaCaller ID stated call from "Roselle IL". A guy with a heavy Indian accent asked me how I was doing and then went right into that he is calling from a service center for Windows, that he can see that my computer is downloading numerous infected files, and that he is going to help me. I told him several times that I don't have any computer problems, asked who he was trying to reach, who he was, and asking him to tell me the name of the place he is calling from. He didn't respond to any of my questions/objections, but he repeatedly and very sternly put me in my place that he is only trying to help me and that I should be happy about this "service call." He was very rude and I simply hung up. Tried calling back a minute later because I wanted to give him a piece of my mind and the number was disconnected.
Whatever he was trying to sell me, it's a total scam built on bullying people and intimidating them. - anonymous replies to toddYes, it's a scam http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml
