- bart| 1 replyJust got a call from them
- LMLThis number called by DNC listed landline. There was no one on the other end when I picked up, so I'm guessing it as an abandoned call from some spammer or scammer.
- Don Tcallmecalled my home phone. I didn't answer, no message was left.
caller ID says: Montauk NY - Don Tcallmereverse # search says: Peerless Network landline from Bethpage, NY
smells like spam - sickofit| 3 repliescalled again, this time the ID says: V9240346080002
# is now call-blocked.
a$$H01z - LMLThese spamming/scamming people called my DNC listed landline again on 09/23/14 @ 1812 hours. As I wasn't near the phone, it didn't get answered. As someone on another reporting site mentioned they called asking for the homeowners there is every reason to suspect they are an illegally spamming company or scam artists. Their number is now blacklisted so they'll get disconnected when they try to call in the future, and I'm sure they'll try again and again seeing they called before, less than a week ago.
- Caller: unknown spammer/scammer
- TheOO7DocDon't know who they are but they certainly are persistent. Annoying as they call a number of times a week and I've answered and there is never anyone on the line. Even called it back once and just got a message that said: "Sorry, there is no one available to take your call at this moment. Thank you for your patience and have a great day". Then they hung-up! I did notice the caller had a very slight Indian accent. Anyone hazard a guess about what that is supposed to mean, the message, not the Indian accent part! I actually hung on the line for a few thinking someone would pick-up when there was someone available. I try to call them back a lot as I've found a lot of them don't bother me again if I get a person. It's kind of like a "GOTCHA" I can call you too. The ones that really piss me off are the ones where I get a recording telling me I just received a call from a number that is not in service. Wow, MAGIC! Just another pain in the butt call. I just like to know who is calling me. I've found that if it is a bill collector or a somehow legit telemarketer that if I tell them they are calling a cell phone and that it is illegal to do so they will stop calling. The do not call list is a joke because it is only observed by HONEST telemarketers and I find it hard to believe 100% there is such a thing. The others are scammers and rip off artists and could care less about some DNC list and so many peopel on here get so mad because they are on the DNC list. It doesn't matter even if it were a legit company who was supposed to honor the list or could get in trouble. They don't care because there are so many complaints and there is absolutely no funding for it and very few people actually keeping it going and they've got a backlog of 1,000 calls each to investigate that it seems cruel to the employee's to even bother. I've a friend who worked for Bell Atlantic for 25 yrs and when she had the chance she applied for the job with the DNC List Program and has been with them since the beginning. It is far from a smooth running process and the majority of complaints do not get investigated in any kind of timely manner. If the infraction led to a restraining order or some such then you might get some attention but if not...........
God bless all,

- montauk NYthe call center is trying to sell solar power system. The call repeatedly and do not say anything when you answer the phone and will not leave a message. I finally spoke with someone and asked them not to call back. Of course my request was ignored
- Bob C.| 4 replies(631) 238-0014. The message says they want to sell pain relief cream, press #1 if you have insurance, press #2 if you have Medicare, press #3 to be removed from the call list. I pressed #3 and was disconnected. They called again a few days later.
.
Here's the solution to them and all others Add your number to the national do not call registry at the Federal Trade Commission --> (https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx). It's a three step process. 1 - Add your number and email address, 2 - confirm the info and submit, 3 - check your email and click the confirm link.
.
When they call again file a complaint with the NYS Attorney General, the attorney general in your own state and with the Federal Trade Commission. They'll stop or face a fine. If enough people do this they'll spend more time answering the gov't agency complaints than they can afford.- Call type: Telemarketer
- Fed Up replies to Bob C.| 3 repliesI am sorry Bob...and I mean this with no disrespect...but what rock have you been living under? Everyone posting on this board is already on the Do Not Call list and they continue to get calls. That is why they are so angry. Telling them that the list will solve their problem is ludicrous.
- DNC IS A WASTE OF TIME replies to Fed Up| 2 repliesI have all my several home phone numbers on the government run Do Not Call List. What a waste of time and taxpayer money. It doesn't seem to do anything at all. As a matter of fact, I think I'm getting more scam calls on the lines since I put them on that list. Some government scumbag is probably selling that list to the scammers and pocketing the money.
What the hell is happening to our tax money! - Grandpa Moses replies to DNC IS A WASTE OF TIMEA lot of the Microsoft scam calls, the IRS scam calls come from India and Pakistan, foreign country's where our laws don't mean a thing to them. Put the blame where it really lay's, with the criminals and illegal telemarketers.
The DNC works just fine. It is for telemarketers only and honest business does indeed abide by it. It is the criminals (which includes illegal telemarketers), frauds and scammers that do not. I do not want legitimate business's allowed back out there on top[ of this other mess of criminals as well.
The Fed. DNC does not cover some survey's, Political or Charities. You would need to check your states DNC laws to see if these are under your states DNC laws. The fact remains that they are not automatic call blockers though and can not protect you from the calls that are criminal, illegal or fraudulent.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.

thank you - Steve replies to bartthis call is from a debt collector/s who have been constantly calling me about an out of state family member and who also refused to identify themselves until i told them i was going to report them and their phone number for harassment. the debt in question was from approx 10 yrs ago

- Anon NY StateAgreed that Bob's post, while trying to be helpful, is naive. We are ALL on DNC list(s). I have repeatedly checked that I am still on that list, every few months or so. Our phones are listed on DNC. Yet calls persist. Hang-ups when answered. No messages. Repeated calls (sometimes four a day). Harassment!!!!!
- Caller: ? Maybe solar? Maybe medical? Maybe phony debt collectors?
- AnonThis number just called me as well. When I picked up and said hello, the person on the other end starting literally singing some song to me and then abruptly hung up? WTF? Landlines need some type of global indexing list that blocks spammer calls like this when reported by enough people. Kind of like how call blocker works on mobile.
