Left message about getting approved for a payday loan. What a scam.

Called at 10AM Central time...appears on my Caller Display as Unknown Caller.  I don't answer these calls.  Left no message.  Obviously not a call you want to answer either

Just got a call and voicemail message about a payday loan being approved for "up to $1350" at www.winterpaytoday.com, approval code 3355, Happy Holidays. (The holidays have long been over, unless they are wishing me a happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.)

The WHOIS file comes up with an anonymous protector, WHOISGUARD, running out of Panama, but the website server is in Chicago, run by Rackspace Hosting. They used NameCheap to register the domain name. The WHOIS has changed 4 times, but I am not going to pay domaintools.com to see if one of the other three WHOIS files happens to be the perpetrator.

If they're so shady that they have to have an anonymous WHOIS name, I don't want to do business with them.

Additionally, they lied: Their website states: "WinterPayToday.com can not constitute an offer or solicitation to lend a loan." They are one of many fly-by-night "payday loan brokers" who are trying to get rich quick by capturing and transferring sensitive information like your social security number and your drivers license number and relay them to real payday loan vendors, most of whom are now run within native American reservations to get around United States usury laws. Winterpaytoday.com receives a flat referral rate for each approved loan transfered, usually between $5-20 depending on the amount of the loan made.
