I lost my cell phone, license, debit card and a key ring with 3 USB devices on them in a bag.  Posted the loss on craig's list.  Got a text from "Catherine" claiming I found it and if i could describe/match the license info. she would get it to me.  1 1/2 days later she apologizes - she has an emergency in Canada with her mother but was going to DHL to send it to me.  Got more texts from Canada DHL asking for $69.00 via mailgram or western union to send it to me.  This was on a Sunday and the again the 631 # of DHL was a google suscriber.  AND the +2348129157563 is a non-working # also.  DHL contact was a Martin Brown.  I asked them to call me and I DID get a call from a male.  The connection was poor and I told him DHL is closed on Sunday AND they have an 800 number.  He hung up.  All text messages were not very literate.  Example he wrote last:  "Hello, i dont hear you clearly because the network is badf here since last week."  It is a SCAM.

Catherine texted me with pretty much the same story except she's deaf and in Nigeria.  "DHL" got a hold of me later and wanted met to prepay shipping.  I told them I owed Chatherine reward money so would pay the deliver driver plus COD shipping charges.

Same story with Valerie and Charles. I lost my wallet and my cell phone in a locker break in. It happened on April 21, 2013. So of course I posted a an AD on Kijiji, and Craigslist.ca. Anyway, couple of days ago, I received an SMS at 6:00am our time, saying it's Jessica, and deaf, and "out of state", asked to conform the name and address on the ID and what's in the wallet. So I gave brief info, like my last name only, and the house address (without city or postal code) and couple of popular cards, like Master card and AMA, etc.. So few hours later she texted back, saying that I am the owner, and she's heading to a DHL dealer to send it to me. Today, (May 18, 2013), I received a text from a weird number (224)572-9720, saying (in a clearly bad English) that it's DHL, (calling me by my last name, and they have a wallet package in their office for me, also they will send it after I send them money first via Western Union, and the details in the email. I checked my email, it was a gmail account, and to send to the attention of Apena  Wasiu, Address: 41a Joel Ogunnaike St., Ikeja GRA, Lagos 23401 NG. Suspecious enough, I texted back, asking if I can the delivery person or if I can pay in one of their locations in person. he answered (angrily) literally (you ill pay the money through the inform we send to you okay ,) exact message with the mistypings and weak language. So I text him back to call me as there is some info in his email are not correct. at the end of his email he said exactly:

I would advice you to go ahead and pay your delivery charges and receive your Wallet package today

Same deal. Lost my wallet. Posted on craigslist. Someone named 'wineva' texted me saying they were deaf. They didn't text me back for 2 days and then said they were already on their way to DHL to have it sent to me. The 'dhl' email is a gmail account.

I'm really glad I researched this before I provided all of my information.
I posted an ad to craigslist and about a week later someone texts me saying they are deaf and want to know if it's my wallet, I just have to provide a description, name and the contents in the wallet along with address. I told them no on the address but provided other details and didn't get a text back until a week later saying it was mine and that they were sending it though D.H.L. another week goes by,  still nothing. Then they text me out of nowhere and tell me they sent it to the wrong city, and I asked them to.change ir and they tell me to email dhlagents@gmail.com
Obviously something is fishy about that.
Hopefully something can be done about these people.

Same messages with name as Ashley. Lost my wallet on last weekend and posted on craigslist. The funny thing is that she has my address that is the same address on my driving license.

So I thought its not fake until I ended up to this page.

Thanks for posting this. Received the exact same scam for a lost passport. Almost fell for it.

Got a text from a deaf girl named Bianca. After a few days, she texted me back stating that she took unit to DHL for delivery, so i emailed the agent at the email address she provided, which i was leery of. The guy sent me specific instructions stating to wire them money through money gram. Researched the address at which they wanted the money sent, and it was a vacant house on the market: 2207 Cedar Elm Terrace Westlake, TX 76262 USA.

Thanks again for posting. People like this make me lose faith in humanity. To think i graciously thanked the woman and told her i'd send her separate reward money via Paypal. How do these people sleep at night?
