I received a message from this company stating they were from the Award Center of Global Lifestyles, and that I had won something from their bridal package.  I was to leave my information for a return call.

I just received the same message from "Kim" in the Bridal Department.  I was selected for a bridal package and trip. I don't know if this is legit or not.

I also received a voicemail message to call regarding the bridal package I had won from Global Lifesyles. Has anyone called them back?

I got the same message!  I am curious to know as well.  Its odd that so many of us got the same call all within the same day.

I got the same call.  They gave me a website to look up my package details, but it didn't work.  I'm skeptical.

I got a call from them saying I won  prizes that have to be picked up at a hotel in Laurel, MD. I did register for a prize package on theknot.com but I don't know how legitimate this is...

I got the same message too! I received two phone calls from two different people at Global Lifestyles. They said I won a raffle from a bridal fair at Ritz Carlton. But I never attended a bridal fair there. I was reading your posts while I was calling them back  and immediately hung up. It doesn't sound legit. When I called back they asked what state I was from and if I was closer to Burbank or San Francisco. Sounds like they were going to send me to a nearby hotel to "pick up my prize". I bet they try to get people to these hotels so that they can sell you a timeshare or some other crap.

I answered when they called, I spoke to Arlene. I had no idea where this call came from until a few minutes in, I realized I'd signed up to be entered in bridal giveaways when I was registering at a bridal shop. She said there's no timeshare deal involved, so I'm a bit tempted to go to the hotel. If you go to globallifestyles.com, it's all explained. Still not sure if it's a scam though.

It just seems fishy that they don't tell you exactly what it is that you won. And from the looks of these posts, it seems they selected many prize winners.

Just got the same call. I'm registered on Knot.com and entered to win things on David's bridal. Don't know if it has anything to do with either of those. I haven't called them back. It seems fishy to me as well. If anyone actually meets with them, please update us.

I got the same call yesterday afternoon, asked for them to call back and leave the details on a voicemail since i was out.  Went to the website and its definitely one of those things offered to everyone.  They have you go to a local hotel (although mine is an hr away-definitely not worth it) and listen to their sales speech for an 1hr and 1/2.  Apparently after that you get your prize, which is not amazing.  When you go to the promotion part of the website http://globallifestyles.com/promotions.cfm look at the graphic on how it explains to register for the vacation.  You need a deposit!!!!! It is really fine print but says some $ value deposit and in the starred fine print it says subject to change at any time and must be in US Dollars.

Be careful girls!  Its not worth it for a 2 night hotel stay and a coupon package, which I checked out on the website and mimicks the coupons you would get in the Sunday paper.  Buy the Baltimore Sun for $2 a week on sunday and save yourself the hassle.

I'm a guy and while I know nothing about bridal fairs <shudders!> I do know something about scams. There is a difference between "win a prize" and "selected to receive a prize." Win-a-prize should be free of any cost to you (the FTC has a strict definition for usage of "win") but selected-for-a-prize can have all kinds of traps in the fine print where you have to pay $$$. Sometimes it means nothing more than you've been selected to buy something from them. Please heed Summer's advice. This may not be a scam but the language used certainly sounds scammy.

I got the same call, the "prize ", was explained well and she emphasized no obligation to buy. The hotel demo is tomorrow, im skeptical now that someone mentioned seeing a deposit in the fine print

Okay so the woman explained the gifts well over the phone and explained that all we had to do was come to the hotel and listen to a sales pitch for an hour. My fiance and I listened to a sales pitch for over 2 hours for cooking ware. You do receive gifts, but like someone mentioned, they're not that great. The trip doesn't include food, airfare, car rentals, etc. By the time you would pay for all of that, plus the fees, you'd spend more than you would booking a trip off travelzoo or something. Also, the "$1000 coupon" you get is actually just a membership for a thing called Passport to Value. It's just a membership to a site that gives you coupons, like buy one get one free stuff. You could buy a membership to it on your own for like $30 a month. The whole thing's not really worth it, unless you're on the lookout for good cookware, and you want to spend at least $700 on two pans.

    Avoid It
I too received a call from a "Jennifer" with the bridal department of Global Lifestyles.  She stated I had been selected to receive a vacation package that included the hotel accommodations for [I think] four nights at a 4-star hotel.  She says I entered the contest at an expo I attended two months ago.  When I asked her to email me the information, she stated they do not use computers, to which I replied "What type of business are you calling from again?"...I mean really, who doesn't use computers in this era.  She stated my fiancé and I would have to sit through their presentation but that there was no obligation to buy anything.  The presentation is being held at a local [cheap] hotel in our area and is expected to last about 90 minutes.  I asked what the odds were for this contest, she stated they choose 10% of the entries from the expos.  She tried to lock me into a meeting for this week, and when I told her I needed to discuss it with my fiancé she suggested we visit their website.  I did – and when you click on the link for their contact information you are prompted to type out your inquiry and enter an email address…funny…I thought they didn’t use computers.  Sounds like a total scam to me!
