Someone called my job after I had left work and left a message with one of my staff that the call was in reference to my social security number and left a number to call back. I called the number back and kept getting a busy signal.  I have no idea as to who this is and why I am being called.

Received a call from this number and they had so much of mypersonal information and basically called me every name in the book. They claimed a took out a loan form some cash advance place and I never did. I called back to find out what the organzation was and they just still continued to insult me and give me no information about their organization. This happened to me two years ago and I checked my accounts and had mybank also follow up. Iwas in the clear but yet two years later the calls happen againand it is at my place of employment. This organization can not be real and someone needs to investigate on them. It is really not a good situaton and scares me to know they have all my information.

Amanda I don't know if these are the same people but the last call posted was the same day the first call from this # showed up here it is  1-202-827-0760. Record all calls if you must speak with them and save all voicemails too. Give them no info or confirm any info. Call your local Law Enforcement fraud dept. They will be able to guide you through all the necessary steps. They did this to my mother as well  and I can understand the shock of it all but unfortunately you are not alone. Stay strong they are a weak bunch of as-holes. Google Unlawful collection tactics or any variants of that and read some of them. I read 1 where the quy won over $200,000.00 dollars from a collection company that he captured on a recording with his unlawful scammer. Just rewards. I am sorry though its happening to you.

I am also receiving these calls. I was told it was someone hacking into a system and getting all of our personal information. It is a scam to get our money. I was advised by this person to tell them I am not paying and they can do whatever they want. No address goes with this phone number when it is traced. By law any debt that is owed must be sent to you in writing.

I have been off work since Oct. My office gets a threating phone call regarding me. Hateful to the person that answered the phone etc. How do you get them to stop. I will get fired if they keep on doing this and I still on medical leave till Dec.

Firing you won't make them stop.  
They can try telling them that calls to that number are recorded and will be turned over to Homeland Security.  Sometimes they stop, sometimes they just laugh and call again.  The scam may be repeated in several months.

They claim they are the US treasury Dept and threaten to have someone at your door if you refuse to call back but do not even give a name of who they are looking for. Called back & the man refuses to give me his address SCAM

spoke to the person named Richard. he told me that I am being sued because of back taxes. He is from India sounding.  Threatened me about someone being at my doorstep he had my name and address. I am turning this over to federal fcc dept.

Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

I got a call from this number today claiming to be from the Dept of Legal Affairs. It was obviously a recorded message. It said I needed to leave work immediately and call. If I didn't, a law enforcement team would soon be at my door. This is  NY number. I have never been in NY and live on the West Coast.

I got the same call on voice mail.  Called from my work number and they said "why are you calling from ............."   they would never give me their organization name.  I called the number back probably 15 times to harass them.
