This is a fake "computer support" company that calls. I've read about it before and never answered, but for giggles I decided to. I spoke with "Adam" - he didn't speak English very well. I told him I know this number and that he is a fraud and steals money. He said no he's not he's asked for nothing then asked me if I was close to my computer. I told him no, it's been in the closet for 2 years. He told me I had an issue on my computer that he was notified about and was calling me to correct it. I advised him that my computer is not connected to the internet and has been in the closet for 2 years and there was no way he received notification. He then told me to go to my computer (which I'm not in front of or  have access to) and he'll need access to my computer to send files to correct the issue. I again told him the computer's been in the closet and this time emphasized it hasn't had electricity to it therefore there could be no issues. He tells me that he got notification that my computer and he needs to correct it. I told him I don't have access to the computer is fine. He then game me a spill of if you don't have me fix your computer now or call us back in 24 hrs later my computer won't work in 36 hours. I laughed and asked him how he was going to make that happen. He then went through the I received notification blah blah blah and then if I don't have him fix it will shut down in 36 hours... blah blah blah. By the end I said I'm good, he said my computer won't work, I said fine, he got all pissy and flustered I smiled.

Ultimately - this sounded like a guy that I dealt with when my sister's computer got a virus. It wasn't a bad virus, easy fix, but, anytime you were online it would direct you to a big warning site that the computer was infected and to call a number. It was actually different numbers, so for giggles I called them and got the same person both times. Don't remember if it was Adam, but same push. I am most likely getting these calls because I called them those times. It was months ago, but there's probably some sort of association.

Next time I'm going to go with it... but act so stupid to get anything he needs to see how long it takes for him to hang up on me. My dad's an IT guy, I've been an unoffical IT person in my departments at work, I've done tech support. I know all the fun stuff. This will be fun :)

Have been getting repeated calls from this number and finally decided to answer and tell them off. The guy didn't speak English very well but said he was from Microsoft and my computer had been hacked. Yeah right. For one thing, there's no way Microstoft would have my phone number as I've never put it on anything that I've bought, but ultimately it just sounded super suspicious. I hung up on him without waiting to hear what else he had to say.

The guy with the foreign accent said since I am a good citizen and never been to jail, the government wanted to  a $9000 grant (i would never have to pay back). He knew my address and of course phone number. He asked how I wanted to receive my monies and gave me some choices (bank account, debit card or wired). I said wired, he then said someone else would call me back with the location I can pick up my monies. Then he asked my age and I said what for, well he then hung up.....SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People don't get caught up in these scams, everyone knows the government does NOT GIVE ANYTHING AWAY FOR FREE!

The guy who called me told me he was from "The Windows" and needed to inform me of computer issues. I went along and played his game. I told him I had multiple computers and that he needed to tell me which one it was so we could narrow it down. He gave me some random identification number for my computer so I played along and said I didn't know how to find the identification number and he should tell me if it was the laptop, desktop, or tablet. Obviously, he couldn't, since he is a scammer. I told him he must be mistaken. He went on about my computer having malware on it and I kept asking him what he was trying to sell me. Finally he caught on and asked if I wanted help or if he should just hang up. I laughed and told him he should probably just hang up. He called me a "[***] [***]" and hung up while I was still laughing. I needed some entertainment and I got it. Haha.

Good question.  It's tough to find these criminals and bring them to justice but the authorities are working on it.  In the meantime, you've helped by posting on this site and you can help yourself by never answering calls from persons or numbers you don't recognize and getting a call blocker.  With people like you maintaining vigilance, taking the time to post and blocking unwanted calls, we can put the criminals out of business.  Well done, Samantha! Cheers! :-)

They called my work and told me my computer had a virus and I told him "Oh no, does my computer need to be on antibiotics?! Oh no I am so nervous now!" then the head of my IT department got on the phone and told him that I was a dumb old lady and didn't know what I was talking about. Then in the middle "Bill" rambling about needing to get to the computer, we blared Mr. Roboto for him and he called me an [***] when I laughed down the phone.
