This number is also linked to a site that we are not sure is even any good. I am going to email the attorney general to check it out. I was told by some moms that they never recieved their orders & they believe it to be a scam but who knows. Here is what I found it attached to:

I got another one today been over a year. Blood pressure skyrockets.
Wait till election time and THEN ask your government to do something. Not including empty promises. CRTC shoud be abolished, as in decades ago.

Here's 2 tricks to try
1) if a telemarketer calls have a high pitch sound ready to blast like those air horns for boats at Canadian tire
2) if you get a live one (warm body) on the other end, explain to them they just called a crime scene, a murder, and you'll need all their personal information and why the called

To many laws are too weak and politicans are even weaker. Our justice system is a joke. This is the same kind of harrassment that we get with email spams and those good looking emails that come from banks asking to update your information. The sad part is that some uninformed people are still falling for the old crap.
A couple of years ago I purposely replied to one using the "F" bomb in every cell that asked for information and suggesting they get a real job instead of praying on others. Then some goof ball laywer or goof ball judge gets them off ona technicality.

Is life really just very man for himself? If a guy breaks in your house and falls down your steps, YOU can be charged. What the hell kind of society has that crap? Rant-off

I am very familiar with the www.SimpleVoiceBox.com service - it is a free voice mail service that allows people to sign-up and create a message and received messages. - SimpleVoiceBox is not the company making the calls to all of you. It is the users of SimpleVoiceBox that are putting their message box number as a return number to call to pitch their service that are causing the problem... Not SimpleVoiceBox...

Not 100% sure but I think some of these automated numbers are searching to see who's home and if your number is legit, then they sell that info to local telemarketers

TO THE MAX
Good point, thanks
That said I think there should be a ruling as to who uses it and how it's used. If Simple Voice Box is legit and only providing a service, then they need to screen better before the government shuts THEM down like other online enitities have been shut down in the past. It's not as though we solicite them. It's "them' bugging us. Is this not about invasion of privacy or harrassment? Of course they could turn around and say it'ds no different than a safety deposit box. You can store stolen money in a SDB Where's our protection from preditors?

The bad guys have more protection than the good guys, something wrong there.

I get a call daily from both of those numbers.I just don't answer when I see the call display.
BUT .... We should have an option on the phones to block these #s from calling back. just like we can block unwanted e-mail addresses from         e-mailing us. just a thought.

Got a call at 1610 EDT on April 21/8.  Long silence then "This is Teresa McDonald from the Small Busines Centre in Ottawa" at which point I hung up as I'd listened to unsolicited pitch b/4 re: assistance in getting grants from Ottawa. I dialed back but needed an extension, so I googled the number and used the extension in this summary: "Story Circle Network Podcast
You can also call our Listener Line at 641-715-3900, ext 19212, or leave a comment on ... We have a new Listener Line phone number: 641-715-3900, ext 19212. ..." So, it seems to be a commercial auto-dialer renting its services to a lot of different customers each with its own extension and a pre-recorded OGM.  I called Bell Canada to complain; they've received many.  Learned that 641 is not an conventional area code, a computer trick evidently.  Perhaps a US telco can assist.

What gets me, is how do they generate any money or sakes or revenue? Unless you call a friend to say hello. if you're calling to solicite, would you not have something to say or sell? Like, what's their point?

I did send an email to our local MP. He actually lives on our street. I saw that he read my email but he did not respond. Keep bugging them. If this is a federal issue and if we consider this an invasion of our privacy...shouldn't the MPs be doing their thing. And, if they are working for us, shouldn't they let us know that they're working on it?
How about some communications from our government. Say something do something.

This number called while I was out.  No message.  ID said only Iowa.  We've had it a few times before.

When I googled the number, I saw quite a few names, both people and companies, come up with this number, but with different extension numbers.  A lot of them have messages that you can listen to after you've punched in the extension number.
