East Indian accent.  Called me by my first name, said his name was "Jack" and worked for
"fixmycomputer.com"  Said I had problems, error messages on my computer and he was going to help me fix them......, mumbo, jumbo and told me my address and to make sure my computer was on.  When I questioned who he was
and who he worked for for microsoft.....I hung up and he called back 2 more times and I
ignored call.  You could tell he was in a room full of people also on phones from the background noise.

I got a call today from this number, 645-781-2458 and the guy also had a heavy accent.  He said his company detected that my computer was not running appropriately and they were wanting to help me.  He asked me to turn on my computer and type something on my web browser.  It sounded suspicious, so I didn't type anything on my computer and told him I had to leave the phone.  It definately didn't sound legit nor did this make any sense.  I didn't give him much of a chance nor did I do anything that he asked.

Received a call today - male Indian- told me my computer was infected and had generated errors that needed to be corrected.I asked him for his name, he said "Peter" I asked him who he worked for. He said Fix My Computer.com. I told him I did not have an account with Fix My Computer.com. he said that didn't matter than my computer had a serious virus and had generated errors that needed to be corrected. He kept saying something about an x when I send or receive emails. I could not understand him. I reiterated that I had no account with him and he went on to say he knew that I had a Microsoft computer and several others in my area were experiencing the same problems and needed to be fixed. At that point I asked him if he minded if I recorded the message. He told me I didn't need to record the message because his company was already recording the message. He repeated various warnings again- I again asked him if he minded if I recorded the message. He finally said that would be OK. I THEN asked him where he got my telephone number. He offered that they bought a database from a local vendor and were calling the numbers on that list. I told him I was on the DO Not Call List and that as I told him previously I did NOT have an account with FMC.com and he then said Ohhh they had just bought the list and he didn't know I was on the DNC list. I told him if he was going to be in the business of telephone soliciting he';d better learn how to check the DNC list before calling numbers from lists they purchase.

I got a call from this number last night telling me that they saw that my computer was running slow and he wanted to help me get it fixed.  It sounded like an Indonesian accent.  I have gotten calls like this before.  My question is "how would they know this?"

As a matter of fact, my laptop computer had been running slowly and was even overriding my commands on even simple things when I was trying to back out of it.  I made it a point to use it with internet service disconnected until I could go get it fixed.  For the past week my wife had been using it with no problem.

    Then the call came.

I told the guy that I suspect that he was the one who sent it and hung up on him.

About twenty minutes later my wife attempted to login and we were advised of a trojan horse.  Coincidence?  I'm not sure but I am inclined to think that this guy sent a trojan horse in between the time that I hung up on him and my wife logged in.

A man with a heavy accent kept saying "This is tech support.  I am calling about your computer."
He said he was from India telling me my computer was running slow and he was going to help me *fix* it. They try to get your CC#.  They want you to leave your computer on overnight so they can
download all your files.  This is a really good SCAM.  Call your local police and report them.

Got the same phone number calling last night.  Thanks to caller ID, I did not and DO not answer from numbers I don't recognize, so I didn't know what it was all about. I thought it was probably a political robo call.  I always assume anyone who really needs to reach me can leave a message.  Then I looked up the number on Google and found this thread.  As Arte Johnson would have said, "Very interesting."  Looks like this scam has been going on for a very long time. I am happy to have found this thread and all the postings so I know for sure what it was.

Yeah they were working the Montana area last night. I got the same kind of call. I wasn't in a good mood and told him rudely that I had read several reports about their scam and I was going to report them to Federal agencies - Goodbye!
I think these clowns operate outside the US, making it much more difficult to track them down and prosecute them.

Must be a full moon. I have been getting these kind of calls lately. This jerk with a foreign accent called about something to do with a computer. When I asked him to speak so I could I understand him, he then asked if I had a computer.  I informed him that if there was problem with my computer I would not be getting a phone call such as this from him and then hung up.

I had the same experience as the rest of you.  This morning I received calls from this number maybe 5 times.  I did not answer the calls, but I did try calling the number back and got a recording saying the number was an invalid number.  This happens when one tries to redial an international number and you do not dial the 011 international prefix and country code.  (Caller ID usually does not show these portions of an international caller's call.)  Finally I answered a call and it was exactly the same as what others reported have here.  Someone with a strong accent identified themselves as calling from the "Computer Maintenance Department" wanted to "fix" my computer because it was running "slow".  It was a painfully obvious phishing call.  I told them my computer was running fine and they said thank you and hung up.  I called my local news station to report the scam and I think they will put the warning on the air tonight in our local news.  I see messages on this thread from 2010!  Someone needs to shut down that number and put those jerks in jail!

I told him I don't have any problem with my computer, I asked him what company he was working for. He said fix.. something. I knew immediately it was a scam. So, I just hung up on him.

Called to "fix my computer" from "tech support".  I laughed and strung him along a bit (I have Macs and LInux boxes mainly).  He finally got flustered and hung up.  Hope I wasted "Nick's" time.  Heavy Indian accent.

Received a call from a man with a foreign accent telling me my computer sent him notice that it had errors and he could fix it.  I asked him how my computer knew to tell him my home phone number and he said since he was a microsoft tech, he had every phone number for every computer.  LOL  I asked him what the charge was for fixing my computer and he said it started at 99.00 dollars.  He tried to instruct me to sign onto www.teamviewer.com and click things so he could have access to my computer.  LOL  I told him he was full of it and I wasn't about to give him access to my computer then hung up.  He called me right back!  He said your computer will crash in 2 days.. how he knew that I'll never know ;)

I just got a call from this number, a foreign man, using my real name and said I had called to say Windows was giving messages, he said, 'have you had pop ups, etc.?  I said no, my computer is working just fine, nothing wrong. Gave him no information.  He hesitated and I said goodby and hung up.  Where do they get our numbers to call?

Got a call from an Indian fella who told me my computer was having problems and he wanted to help fix them.

OF COURSE THIS IS A SCAM, so i told him to hold on for a second and put the phone near the toilet bowl and hit flush. The line was dead when i check a moment later.

DO NOT FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS GIVEN it will give this tool or whoever he works for control of your Computer, and all the info you have stored on it.
