- Grandpa Moses replies to JJ| 3 repliesDear JJ ,
The DNC works just fine. It is for telemarketers only and honest business does indeed abide by it. It is the criminals (which includes illegal telemarketers), frauds and scammers that do not. However, the Fed. DNC does not cover some survey's, Political or Charities. You would need to check your states DNC laws to see if these are under your states DNC laws. The fact remains that they are not automatic call blockers though and can not protect you from the calls that are criminal, illegal or fraudulent.
Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

The message usually says something like this: We want to schedule the delivery of the medical alert system that you have bought, and to call them back (I do not remember the 800 number to call). This is clearly an elder scam.
- SadnerbThis number calls me everyday! I answered and they put me on hold! I hung up!
- ElderlyWe get calls from this number at least every other day. We don't answer. As for the No Call List, beginning to believe it is nothing but a big scam itself. It certainly doesn't work. Plus, I never got scam calls on my mobile until I registered it on the No Call List. What's up with that???
- Caller: "New York"
- Uncle AlThey hang up before answering machine message, so they are veteran spammers. No idea who they are or what they want, but it must not be good. The wife recorded the following message on our answering machine.. It works quite well. : Hello. Due to the number of sales calls we receive, we screen our calls. We enjoy speaking to our family & friends, so simply say who you are and we will pick up.
If not & you leave a number we will call you back when we return. Thank you."- Caller: New York Call
- Joan| 2 repliesI starting to suspect that AARP shares certain of their members information. All of a sudden I am getting calls that are of possible benefit to the over 50 folks (which I am one). This caller left no message but from what I am seeing here it is potentially from a medic alert system. As if we don't have enough to keep track of.
- Caller: New York
- Bee in the Mid-West replies to JoanSame here. I created an account in the AARP web site and suddenly loads of phone calls from unknown numbers.
- RobertaGFirst time we've gotten this call. Caller ID shows "New York"; whitepages.com shows VoiP from New York City; intelius.com states it is a cell phone. Know no one is New York. No message left when answering machine picks.
- MeThis number just called. Caller ID showed "New York." Can't think of anyone I know in New York, so I did not answer. During the time that my voice mail was waiting for a message to be recorded, I could hear background noise of an obvious "boiler room" call. That, or someone was calling me from the floor of a large casino! Caller did not leave a message.
- RobertaGCaller ID shows as "Unknown". Whitepages.com lists number as VoiP New York City; peoplefinder.com shows number as cell phone, zone 1, Manhattan. Know no one in New York City. On Do Not Call list for years. Calls every other day but at different times. Did not leave message when answering machine picked up.
- MidNYteStorm replies to Grandpa MosesI wish more people realized this.
- Bub17Called today at 12:46 and 2:47. I don't answer callers I don't recognize. They didn't leave a message either time. Typical telemarketer.
- Call type: Telemarketer
