I replied to a job posting on craigslist and the post was offering a part-time job. They replied to my resume and we kept on going back and forth saying they needed a part-time assistant to run errands while they were out traveling and would pay me $475-weekly. they fed-exed me a check and asked me to deposit. Thankfully I took a while to reply to one of their e-mails and they TEXTED me so I googled the number and came across with this... so disappointing that there is people like that trying to get others in trouble.... SHAME ON THEM!!! thank god for google and people posting their experiences.

And they used the same name Dean Thompson 67 yr old married with 3 kids. Investor on real estate

My daughter has been contacted by the same person asking her to run errands for him. Would you let me know the nature of the scam so that she won't get involved? I want to protect her.

Brenda -- this is a counterfeit check or "money mule" scam (and the person your daughter is dealing with is a Nigerian scammer btw).  First errand will involve depositing fake checks into the bank and wiring some of the money back to him by Western Union.  In a few days or weeks the bank will detect the checks are fraudulent and your daughter will be responsible for reimbursing the bank.

This was an ad on Craigslist, the same one mentioned by Vane. He has asked her to buy toys for a charity with the check. How would this scam work. The check comes from Nebraska by Fedex with an address.
