Once I returned to my home I received a text message from a; "63180673@vtext.com" the text message contained a message stating "(Contact Wells Fargo) Call 6466878225". Now I am young and thought I knew enough about scams and fraud not to let this fool me but it did... Not only did I give them my Chase Debit Card information but my Social Security number. This just happened an hour ago I cancelled my debit card for now but I don't know what to do with my Social Security situation. SS offices are closed until tomorrow morning (monday) Thank you for reading

- Lisa replies to Erik AndersenContact the credit bureaus....experian, trans union and equifax. Have them place a fraud alert on your credit information. If someone tries to use your social security number and open an account in your name it will stop that from happening and they will contact you to make sure this is legitimate. It may be a pain for awhile but this than someone stealing your money and identity.
- LisaSame thing....a text and then a phone number in the text. I have no business with Wells Fargo and what bank is going to send a text on a Sunday night for you to call them. Total Scam!
- Tom LI NYSame here.. Don't know if it is location specific or casting wide net... Did anyone outside of Long Island receive the msg... Eric if you believe it is a scam contact your local District Attorney tommorrow... They may refer you to the federal law enforcement agency with jurisdiction... But.. Important you start the process to protect yourself... Additionally, if it is a scam... Agency will issue an alert to warn other potential victims... Good luck!

- Pete Suffolk NYMy wife and I each got this text Sunday night, telling us to call Wells Fargo at 646 687 8225, ignoring it
- Harry T| 1 replyI do have business with Wells Fargo, so I clicked the link for the phone number. The call was intercepted by Verizon Wireless, telling me my plan doesn't include long distance or international calling. Part of the scam must be tricking you to make an international call, with ridiculously exorbitant charges.

- Ed kGot this text at 6:48 pm ... Looks like scamming on LI !!!
- Gary replies to Erik AndersenEric, get in touch with Social Security right away. Also contact IRS (if you pay Income Taxes) and let them know your social security number has been compromised. Many of these creeps sell the social security numbers and then down stream creeps use the numbers to apply for credit or tax refunds during the season. Social Security can advise you with regard to anyone to notify.
I advise you take this very seriously at least until you notify SS admin and get the low down on what they recommend
Gary - Gary replies to Harry THarry, I think you're right. I don't live on Long Island and haven't for a number of years, but I've kept my Long Island (631) phone number. I received the text tonight at 1951 Central....My guess is they got a hold of a block of Long Island numbers and pumped them into an auto-dialer
gary - Mike AGot the text at 6:32. Had no intentions of calling, but what's messed up is that while I have no accounts with them, I had coincidentally called Wells Fargo yesterday regarding mortgage information.
- VickiAlso shopping at a LI mall today and got a text from 63162647@vtext.com shortly after I arrived home about 4:15. The only message was: Call 6466878255. (No mention of Wells Fargo.) While I was at the mall, I did have something shipped to my house and gave my cell number for the order.

- FlorenceReceived a text last night from this number at about 7:30 pm asking me to call Wells Fargo. Called this morning and it said for faster service type in my social security number. Besides not having an account with them and then asking for my social security number it sent up all kids of red flags. Called the number for Wells Fargo this morning and reported it, and they seemed to have no knowledge of this scam.

- Tiffany replies to Erik AndersenWhat ended up happening? I gave them my social security # last night.
- KristinaA phishing attempt sent via SMS (Short Message Service) or text message to a mobile phone or device. This tactic is also referred to as smishing, which is a combination of SMS and phishing. The purpose of text message phishing is the same as traditional email phishing: convince recipients to share their confidential information.
Never take action on a request for your personal or financial information, including account numbers, passwords, Social Security number or birth date. If you receive a text message expressing an urgent need for you to update your information, activate an account, or verify your identity by calling a phone number or submitting information, on a website, do not respond and delete it. These messages may be part of a phishing scam conducted by fraudsters in an attempt to capture your confidential account information and may be used to commit fraud.- Caller: Wells Fargo

- Me too| 1 replyMy husband and I each received these texts on Sunday afternoon. the phone number it came from was similar to my cell number and the same for him. Coincidentally I was with my sister too on Sunday and she received the same message from a number similar to her cell # as well.
We all live in Long Island. We all have verizon and we all received the text about the same time.
At first I thought it was about my car loan but on a Sunday afternoon I wasn't sure. Then my husband said he received the text too I knew it was a scam. Once my sister said it, it definitely was.- Caller: Wells Fargo (Scam)
