This is a SCAM!!! One who is trying to rent out a home that doesn’t even belong to them; hence, you cannot view the inside of the home. They will eventually request for you to wire money via Money Gram (SCAM alert)!

Yesterday we were almost scammed by this number, they said they were a husband and wife who had to move to Texas and they had a home they needed to rent out ASAP!! They wanted us to send $1400 through Moneygram, they were very persistent and needed the money ASAP!!! It had to be there by 6pm because they had someone else who was interested in the home and could pay 6 months rent in advance, but they "LIKED" us and wanted us to have the house!! The person on the phone kept calling from a unavaliable number, everytime I asked a question he had the same answer that was very rehearsed and he avoided the questions. The man on the phone had a very thick Asian accent. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!! The house they were trying to "RENT" us was a real home, it was empty and for lease. We have a friend in the city we are moving to check it out and the address and the home match up, but it is obvious it isn't their home!!! Here is the email we got!

Same story, same scam, same $1400 over moneygram, thankfully read this thread before I sent any money. Masquerading as Vanessa & Charles Deriso who have listed their house on the market through a broker legitimately wanting $3600/mo. Scammers wanted 2 payments of $700 through Craigslist. They also owned the email address vanessa.deriso@yahoo.com and the house and name all matched up.. sneaky sneaky.

I almost fell for it today! Similar story about them being in Texas because of a mother-in-law who is stricken with breast cancer. How awful! They have the house for rent now for $700.00...this is the email address they are using now and here is the email that "Vanessa Deriso" sent me today...

Initially I and my Husband wanted to sell the house on getting to Texas on a second thought we decided to rent it out since we will be returning back to the house in the next 5 years I will like you to go take a look at the exterior part of the house because you will not be able to go inside to see the interior hence I have all the keys here with me. My house is a 5bed rooms,4.5bath. Very well furnished, the living room also has a fire place, and a mounted plasma screen television. The bedrooms are well furnished with a cheery wood night stand and a chest with a dressing table, a foot board and a head board. the mattress on it is a sorta pillow top mattress, this is the same in all rooms except the master bedroom which had a walking closet and mini Jacuzzi tub,2 vanity double sink,and a sleep number bed. This room also has a 37 inch plasma television. The kitchen has a stainless steel electric cooker and a self cleaning oven, a built in microwave and a double door whirlpool refrigerator. The house also has a central cooling and heating systems, with ceiling fans in all rooms. Plates, cutlery, and sheets are all provided. Extra blanket and sheets are in the extra closet located by the bathroom. The cable,light and internet  bills are all included in the rent. Do get back to me if you are truly interested and sure of taking proper care of my house there is a rent application form which I will like you to fill and Send back to me. If you can do all  this for me, then I will be willing to rent my house to you.

How sad!

I happened to look up the number that I was given, and I'm deeply saddened to find out that this is a scam. It me, my fiancee and our friend who have two children looking for an affordable home. I knew this was too good to be true.

For me is was a 4 bed, 2 bath at 700/month. The owners were Tara and Charles Green who are living in Texas for five years with their mother/mother-in-law who has breast cancer. I knew there was something wrong when his accent didn't match his picture.

Don't let them scam you! I am reporting it to the police so someone else doesn't get hurt.

Same deal here. That freaking muslim said his name was Charles Jonas. When he called back and I told him I knew it was a scam he hung right up. People like this should fry. Thank ya'll for putting this on here, or we may have been sucked in.
