Just received a call (@ 6:13 AM!)  purporting to be from this number . . . obviously didn't answer since I don't know anybody in New York, NY, but they were "kind" enough to leave me a robotic message telling me that I'm being sued by the IRS & should call them right back . . .  really??

Got a call this morning from 646-751-8210. It had a recorded messaging saying I was being sued by the IRS, and that I needed to call this ph# back immediately. Clearly this is a fraudulent call and I am blocking it.

I just received a call from this number stating it was the last attempt by the IRS to contact me filing a lawsuit against me....

Just got a call from this number claiming IRS was filing a suit against me. While I was sure it was fake, I wanted to see what would happen if I returned the call. The individual - with a strong Indian or Pakistani accent - gave me his name and his badge number, knew my name and address and informed me I was in arrears on my lat taxes. The amount, interestingly was equal to the refund I had received for lat year. So these guys have a lot of information. When I suggested that there should be a payment plan, he replied that I would be arrested in 20 minutes - still 3 minutes to go so who knows?
This is a dangerous and terrible scam

I meant....I just got ac call from this number and it says the same as people who claimed as above.
I also have some tax credit from 2014....I really agree those guys have some info about our tax.

left message on my machine that this was my final notice that they (Internal Revenue Service) were filing a lawsuit against me, call their department number for more information on this case.  Yes they identified themselves as the Internal Revenue Service.

Same ROBOT call as mentioned in the above notes.  This is really sad...

I also received the same call.  As did you, I responded just to see what would happen.  Same thing.  Indian (Pakistani) answered and gave me his "badge number" and told me not to interrupt him.  I immediately interrupted him and asked for his name which he refused to give me.  He was silent.  I asked again. Silence.  I asked him to spell his name.  Long silence and then he hung up.  Scam.  Scam.  Scam.  If the IRS wanted to contact me, they would do it via snail mail.

They also left a message on my answering machine.  I called this number and a woman with an accent gave her name as Melissa Davis - Badge # 246810, stating that I owed the IRS money.  SCAM !!!!

"Internal Revenue Service. The reason of this call is to inform you that the IRS is filing a lawsuit against you to get more information about this case file. Please call immediately on our department number 646-751-8210. I repeat 646-751-8210. Thank you."

It's so much fun F'ing with these people.  Best part is to string them along for a long time and then tell them I can't talk any more because my [***] is stuck in the keyboard.

I just got the exact same message as everyone else. It's scary that they have our tax info.

Tell the caller to come and get you right now, send the IRS to the door, Put you in the cuffs, tell them you would like to sleep all day, have three square meals a day on their dime, be able to read books, work out, or what ever, see what they have to say, if you show them that you are not afraid and you have the power then they might leave you alone.. or you go to jail... but the IRS does not work that way, the IRS takes away your belongings not throw you in jail

A scam. Don't waste your time calling them back .

Same message as everyone else.  Called the number and got another recorded message that would transfer me to an agent and then immediately said Goodbye.  Only thing I can think of is they got some information from the hack at OPM for government employees.

I had a message on my home phone re: the same.  I'm in MA.  I called my local police department to report it and to warn others about it as they also agreed that this is a scam call.  So, report to your local police and then delete the message. DO NOT CALL THEM BACK!  Thanks.
