This is the same as this number:  851-322-8600 same organization from India who is scamming folks.  Apparently they bought our personal information somewhere on the internet.  I filed claims with the FTC and my state attrny general.  I signed up for LifeLock as well..hope that will help.  Don't take the calls, just lift and replace receiver.  I am lucky, they only have my office and personal cell, not my real home number.

Yes, I received the same phone call (I live in CA) from a man claiming to be John Anderson (his number was 646-918-5212) and he was calling on behalf of his collection agency. When I questionsed him on what company was claiming a defaulted loan, he said he that I should call Roger Smith from the company that was making the claim (at 360-350-1994).

This guy Roger Smith, says: "I'm from "Cash Advance USA" no, no "Advance Cash USA". I'm thinking in my head, you do not know the name of your own company? And he says he can't talk to me because all the information has been forwarded to the collection agency.

So I did some reseasrch and I did get a pay day loan, around the time they claimed but they wouldn't give me a specific date, just the month and year.

So then I called the pay loan company that I got the loan from (PayDayMax and this was from a loan I got in Dec 2007 and they said, "no you are in good standing with us, you paid your loan 10 dyas after you got the loan, there is nothing outstanding with us."

So I called this John Anderson guy back and he got abusive over the phone, and said; "I'm not going to discuss this with you, either you pay up or we are going to sue you."

So I said; "Well send be the information so I can verify the information and know what you are talking about.

And this John Anderson guy (Indian, from India by the way) said; "No, are you going to pay right now or are you going to go to court?"

And I said:"I'm not going to agree to anything until I know what you are talking about."

He said; "Pay up [***] or we are going to sue you"

At which I said; "This conversation is over and I'm calling the cops on you"

Which I did, I went down to the police station and the officer that spoke to said he got a call like that earlier today too.

The scary part is that they had my bank account number and SSN which is why I didn't hang up on them right way. This tells me that PayDayMax sold my info :( so beware. I already contacted the TransUnion, Experian, and Equafax and my bank. It was too late today to talk to FTC the State Attorney's Office and the FBI. But I will be contacting them tomorrow. Hope you guys have better luck than me.

I received a call from this number and they left a message, for a person that was not me, stating that I owed some money on a student loan and they were going to sue.

I called back because I could not understand the message clearly because the person spoke in an Indian dialect that was too strong and their English was broken. After being transferred I tried to tell the reps they had an incorrect number and name and to take my number off their list. They said it was from National Education something company, which I do not have any loans from.

I have been the victim of identity theft so anything like this makes me nervous!

First I recieved a call in my home phone answering machine from a Mr. Johnson and that he had a legal matter with me and that if I didnt settle it that i would be in big trouble and then they left the same message on my parent's home phone answering machine.  I called the number asked for Mr. Johnson, the guy on the phone said he was Mr. Wilson and that there were a few Mr. Johnson's in their office.  He knew the last 4 digits of my social security number, my e-mail, and phone number.  He told me I owed money to a pay day loan company called Cashco.  I never had a payday loan with a company named Cashco.  I have had them before but not with that company.  But as everyone is saying on here I have had a loan with paydaymax.  And I have an attorney handling my debt situation and when I told this Mr. Wilson I would give him my attorney's name and number he hung up on me.

I also got a call from 779 - 851 - 2727 saying my sister had a loan out and I'm a reference and they were filing a legal claim against her and I was in trouble because she used me as a reference. As far as I know they only have my cell phone #. And I know i'm not in trouble because I didn't sign anything. I hung up on him when he started getting snippy and telling me I was in trouble for something that's not my problem. Plus they thought my sister was a male. THey also seemed to be Indian and I could barely understand them. I hope they don't have any other of my info. and they told me to call back a Different 646 area code #

I get a call from a guy with a heavy Indian accent "Courtney Carlson" - he is calling my work, my home, my friends....

Until they tell me what company they are calling from, in understandable ENGLISH, I will not call them back.

How do we stop these people???

Also, if you notice, all these comments are within the last week - they must be doing a big phone collection push....

It may be a big push but may also mean a new phone number.  If you could find the old number you would probably find pages of complaints.

Big scam - My Mom got this same call. Someone named Jack Wilson. They said she will be named in a court case unless she paid $300.00 and only then they could they remove her name. They also threatened to send her name to her employer.  My mom refused, and then they said they would accept $150.00.  We called back and they denied ever asking for money.

I received this same call from 646-918-5212.  I have no idea who the person is that called but he did have an Indian dialect. I comes up as unknown caller on my caller id.  They stated that I owed over $700 for a payday loan.  He stated that they had my name and ss # and they were attached to a lawsuit against me. He stated that if I would agree to make 2 installment payment, it would be canceled.  They emailed me a generic form to complete with my debit card number and the amount I would pay.  They wanted me to fax the form back to them at another 646 phone number. I contacted the payday loan company that I owe and they stated that they have not sent my account to a third party collection agency.  Who are these people?  Of course, I couldn't understand their names.

I am receiving calls again from this so called company.  They harassed me and my parents back in March and now I am receiving voice message and phone calls again!  Today they called me and left a threatening messages, stating they were sending their investigator to my face and i would have big trouble.  Same man, broken accent, cant understand gave the 646-918-5212 phone number again!  This time I called the number and he transferred me immediately to someone else and I told this person to stop calling my house and harassing me because I do not owe any loan company money.  He told me to stop my BS and pay it, I told him I have contacted the police, FTC and attorney generals office and he put music in my ear.   I hung up.  I am really starting to get fustrated.  I havent gone to the police yet because I know they cant really do anything.  I have reported this to the FTC.  Does anyone have an ideas of what to do to stop the harassment!  This is out of control with these people.....

I received a call from 646-918-5212 His name Scott Nicholson, advising me that I had to pay $1000.00 NOW, from a Payday loan I dont remember getting back in 2007.  My account there has since been closed and I have never gotten anything from this payday loan place to back this up, he also advised me of a File number and sent me an email, stating he wanted incriments of different amounts every 28 days.

I advised him that I have been unemployed since 2008 in June, and have not been able to find work, after about 47 min, I finally hung up on him, he never gave the full name of the company just ACS.  How do they get all this information, my email, from that time, the Bank, and he wants to file it in court on Thursday April 9, 2009, what am I missing?  Any advise
