- Denny| 5 repliesIts the same scam, winning a trip to Florida, Orlando, Disney world, but that i had to cover registry fee. i got the same kind of call yesterday, but it was a different number (613) 604-0174) and the SAME scam, reading the same script. Very persistent they are. I know its a scam because yesterday, after i finally hung up after the guy kept ignoring my questions, i called the number back and it was a canned instant recording of a woman saying HI, packaging and delivery dept. can we put you on hold for a minute so we can process your order.... and then loud MUZAK. I hung up on the guy this morning as well, and i called back the number that was used and got the EXACT SAME canned recorded message. obviously they DO NOT want anyone to be able to call them back, and they falsify their numbers so people do not know who they really are.
- avantimamma replies to Denny| 3 repliesThank you very much for the information. I too got the same 2 phone number on my cell (1-647-495-8902) with the same pitch sale that I won a 14 days trip to Florida, Orlando, Disney and Cancun. They told me that my Visa company all already approved the $287/per pers. So I call Visa and they told me that they never approved any travel fee. This lady really, really wanted my credit card number. She asked for it about 25 times. I told her I didn't remember filling out a contest and she replied that it was unfortunate that I didn't remember. I had mixed emotion about giving my credit number to a complete stranger. My gut was telling not to give it and I'm glad I didn't, especiall after I spoke with a lady at Visa. The name of the scam is Mariah and her id number is 9014. I tried calling her back but I got the same message as the person below. BE CAREFUL, ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER.
- Troy replies to avantimamma| 1 replyI just got the same call to my home number. After the said I had been selected from thousands who applied, I said that I should be able to verify the validity of the contest and the rules around it. After her describing the winnings numberous times to me without giving me any method of verifying it. I asked if she could give me any internet site that I could access to verify the contest. After this, she said she would see what she could do, and put me on hold. Once she came back, she once again asked me for me credit card number. She said that I would get all the validation information after she generates a confirmation number which required my credit card number.
Finally, she said that, after being selected as a winner, I had to give my credit card number during that phone call or I would forfit my prize.... I decided to forfit... to which she repeated the winnings and once again asked for my credit card number. They are persistant - tiredofthisincalicalled my cell phone. was expecting my son...glad i didn't answer without looking.
stopped answering the home phone 2 years ago (the fact that we "screen" is on my answering message!)

- jackielynnn| 2 repliesJust received a call from this number on my cell phone. I am on ALL of the Do Not Call lists. I've received so many scam calls over the past year or two, I no longer answer the phone if it is a number I do not recognize, and these scum never leave a message (because that's not part of their scam). I file a complaint EACH TIME these scammers call with the FCC (http://www.fcc.gov/complaints) AND the Do Not Call registry (https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2). EVERYONE needs to do this! They can't do anything if they're not inundated with information and complaints. If we're all persistent and annoying enough, maybe something will finally be done.

Didn't answer it and no message was left. I came right to this site to check it it out. I want to thank all you previous posters for advising that this was a scam call. Thank you so much. - I agree replies to jackielynnnYou are so right! If we ALL inundate those agencies with info they'll be forced into doing something. The squeaky wheel gets the grease!!!!!
- "Vishing" replies to TroyFrom: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vishing
Vishing is typically used to steal credit card numbers or other information used in identity theft schemes from individuals. - OwenIt's too bad that our worthless federal government will not do what we are paying them to do - - - Go after these worthless [***] and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law!
I guess it is up to us to start enforcing the law! I would like to strangle each and every one of them with their own telephone cord and then leave them in the street to feed the buzzards!
All they are is ignorant, lazy [***] that don't want to 'work' for a living! - SamI told them my credit card number is na na fo fo, fa fa na six, na fa fo na, fa fa fa fo. Then they hung up.
