They are using a OneandUS Toronto  Access Telephone number.  The company is based in the United States number and appears to be either Gloconnect Telecommunications Inc. or the other corporation name is NorthStar Global Communications Inc..  They appear to sell phone cards to people who then resell the cards to others so they can make free calls to over 130 countries.  Advertises that it is ideal for callers residing in Africa, Mideast and Asia.  So Ontario Eco Energy must be having employees overseas using these telephone cards.  No wonder the Do Not Call list doesn't work.  Telephone number is Toronto.  Company is in the U.S.  Callers can be anywhere in the world.

they call me constantly. rude to me and won't let me talk. they swear at me and tell me they no where I live. they said they will never stop calling me. it's a Toronto number but Bell Canada says it is most likely coming from another country, probably the u.s., through a Toronto number. they pretend to be working for Direct Energy and Enbridge along with other Power Companies, but they are not, I checked with theses companies and they are not affiliated in any way. Just a scam. The Police have told me not to answer them again and if they do phone to hit the mute button and never answer them again. I wish them the worst that a person could probably incur in his or her own life. scumbags.

    Three times so far
It's 1 pm and they've called three times so far today.  I'm not answering them but I'm not impressed, especially after seeing they are probably scammers.  I'm going to block them now before they try again and wake up my newborn.

Want to stop repeated telescam phone calls?
    Try these alternatives:

    1.  Do not answer the phone if you see an unknown number on your Caller ID ... let it go to answering machine or voicemail.  Many telescammers hang up after 3 rings.

    2.  If you have a smartphone, get one of the inexpensive or free phone blocker apps at your online app store, and learn how to use it.

    3.  If your cel is not "smart", read the manual to learn how to set up a "group".  Assign the scammer's phone number to that group.  Also assign a "silent ring" to that group.  You will not hear future calls from that number.

    4.  Google NoMoRobo, and visit their site, to see if your phone system is compatible with that system.  (It may or may not be compatible).

    5.  Contact your phone service provider.  They may have a facility or method to allow you to block numbers.

    6.  If you buy things online, you might want to google "Amazon phone blocker" to see what devices or apps Amazon has to offer for landlines or smartphones. Similar devices are for sale on eBay and other online stores.

Im just playing this next time they call

"Hello! This number has been blocked by the service provider of the customer you are trying to call. The reason for this blocking is due to suspected criminal activity. If you continue to call this phone number, the authorities will be contacted, and appropriate legal action will take place. Thank you, goodbye."

Called me 4 times already today. Last couple of time, it seems to hang up after one ring.  Not sure what the scam is and would like to know how it works. If I were to answer these calls, do I get scammed (other than the annoyance)?

This is a spoofed number from an East Indian Call Centre, likely Karachi, Pakistan.  They call asking by name, and use any address published in the phone book - however they didn't know it was a condo complex.  When I asked what they were calling for, they started the spiel about how I'd been 'selected' for the Ontario Home Eco Retrofit rebate program.  This is some sort of scammer call.

There is a posting on Wikipedia addressing this – the site states it is unclear as to whether or not it is advertising.

There was a Canadian Federal Ministry of Natural Resources energy home retrofit program, that Ontario dropped out of in 2011; the program ended in June 2012 and the webpages have been Archived.  There were prequalified vendors – but since the program is no longer active any company telemarketing and claiming to be part of this program is committing fraud.  I used to work at the Ontario Ministry of Energy - so I know any calls claiming this particular program are FAKE.

Its the 4th attempt to me in 6 months.  These crooks are trying to find 'live' numbers, and confirm your name and address - then ANY usable information that can be used to create Fake IDs, which are then used to commit fraud.  See the RCMP Top Scams websites.  Warn your elderlies and tell them to just hang up - hanging up on crooks isn't rude.

Report the faked number, date and time of the call to your local anti-fraud unit.  In Canada you can email to info@antifraucentre.ca.

    FAKE COMPANY
Called my home three times today.  i called back to find out what they wanted.

They claim to be "Ontario Eco" company talking about recent legislation providing a qualified homes for a rebate as long as I answer questions address and they mumbled some address which they claim is Toronto based.

I asked for a company website address.  They said  "www.ontarioeco.ca"  --- this domain is not registered.  LIES!

I received 4 calls today.  The second call I answered with (I repeated it twice) Please remove this number from your data base, thank you.  I received 2 more calls after that.  This is nothing but harassment.  I will not answer any more calls and perhaps they might like to listen to me practice my violin.
