Google Maps, updating business information

This call questioned, If we were a business and what time do you close.  I asked how I could help him, and he hung up.   Very unprofessional.

Multiple calls. No message every left. A gal called back to ask our street address. Phone call was choppy and hung up.

It appears to be Google Maps reps calling to verify business information. They were asking what our cross streets are and what areas we service. They did not offer to sell anything.

This person called - unable to speak decernable English - but after asking him to repeat himself several times, I was able to understand "Is this an attorney's office?"  I said yes and he hung up. Extremely unprofessional if this is, in fact, Google Maps.l

I don't think this is Google, it's probably a company trying to get verified addresses and phone numbers to sell as leads to companies who will call and mail you info so don't fall for it unless you want lots of sales calls. I would love to get the phone number for Google places, they messed up my account trying to charge money for what they said was a free month promotion and I've tried to contact them, after hours of research I discovered there is no way to contact them, even their email form for places says they only accept certain subjects which didn't address my problem.

My point is there is no way Google places is calling people, the way to contact Google places is a guarded secret, even other departments of Google can't give you a phone number.

If anyone calls claiming to be Google and this happens a lot, ask them to verify your account number when you log in to your Google account it shows you a Google account number. Do not give them your number ask them to tell you your account number, if it's a Google rep they will have it since they have to "verify" your account. When they realize you aren't going to fall for their crap they will hang up on you and you will be saved from hundreds of sales calls.

I just gave the solicitor my address, i hope i do not get hammered with calls. Limited english as well.

Suggestion. Hang up!

It's obviously Google Maps. Try calling the number back, it's a prerecorded message from Google. The phone number is from Mountain View, CA, where they are based out of.

You guys are so damned paranoid.

Any company can leave whatever they like on their voicemail. And also I have had many marketing callers disguise their number, even block it. And we have caller block set up on our phone account and they still somehow get through.

Google keeps calling and never leaves a message.

I had the same problem , when they asked if this was "Bedmaker".... I said no even though it is related to my business, but seemed very dodgy. The line was very bad, and the lady didn't speak good English. I texted back saying if they didn't tell me who they were I would report them.

I think people need to report this number.

They keep calling, never leave a message, today I answered and there was a chinese or southeast asian woman trying to ask questions about our business, I decided to hang up!

They call at lunch time, they always call at lunch time, I have to leave everything I am doing, including my food in order to answer the phone, and I find out there is an indian woman or pakistani woman with some kind of promotion of something I don't even need !!

I just received the same call. Gave the address for the business.  I figured it's public information, so what's the difference.  Has anyone been scammed by providing this information?

He had a thick accent.  The number he called from was: 650-253-2000

I just got a call from this number and the broken English speaking man identified himself as working for Goggle maps. He said they were updating info on my location because they had had feedback that my location was wrong because there was a different name on the building on Goggle maps. I informed them that was the old tenants sign and the address was correct. He said someone would update photo within 90 days. I called the number back after my conversation and they did in fact answer Goggle maps but said this number was not set up for incoming calls and gave me a Goggle link to get the correct phone number. So I called new number and asked about the updates and they said they make calls only when they get feedback about maps being inaccurate.

she said she was from some online directory or another, dont recall ,then simply asked if I was still located on a certain ave, I said no I was only there a very short time, she said ok, no more questions followed
