My name is Steve Martin and I'm calling regarding enforcement actions executed by US treasury and getting your attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before the magistrate judge Bob and Judy criminal offense. My number is 6507398031. Again 6507398031. I advise you to call back with us and help us to help you."

I received the same script on voicemail: "Hi this message is intended to contact you. My name is Steve  Martin and I'm calling regarding enforcement actions executed by US treasury intending your previous attention. Ignoring this will be an intentional second attempt to avoid initial appearance before the magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. My number is 6507398031. Again 6507398031. I advise you to cooperate with us and help us to help you. Thank."

Save the call.  It is a SCAM to extort money from you from a thief NOT in the United states.

Got the same message as stated above from someone with such a heavy accent, I couldn't make out all he was saying.  They never address you by name and constantly calling saying immediate action required to avoid legal action against me.   Might even be a recording cause it's the same message each time.  I've had several calls now but not sure how to stop the calls.  I tried to pick up during one of the messages to tell them to stop calling but there wasn't a response on the other end.  I know this us a scam but how to stop them from calling again and again?

Same message as stated by the above people.  Several times this morning.  It's clearly a scam, but tired of getting the phone calls.  I'm on the Do Not Call registry so filed a formal complaint.

This idiot called me twice today (October 28). He also called me twice yesterday. It's the same exact recording each time. The idiot says he's "Steve Martin." Today he called from a different phone number than yesterday. Yesterday he called from (916) 469-6594. Today he called from (650) 739-8031.

Same message as others.  He has called 3 times today already.  I filed a complaint with the FCC.

I got the same calls as others are reporting from 650-739-8031. First time today it was a message on voicemail. 2nd time, I saw the number and answered. Tried to tell them to quit calling with their BS, but the guy just began his same BS "legal action" rambling. This is getting seriously irritating.

I reported my experience to the FTC. Please do the same and hope it helps curb this garbage!

Same scam, called three times so far, Steve Martin in an Indian accent with threats..  Reported it to IRS.

I received the call from (650) 739-8031:

“The US treasury. and-can(?) you see this attention. Ignoring this isn't an ext. 2nd attempt to avoid initial appearance before the magistrate judge club(?) and Judy for a federal criminal offense. My number is 650-739-8031. Again 650-739-8031. I'd like you to call Richard Daniel posted(?). Thanks.”

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today warned consumers about a sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, throughout the country.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.

“This scam has hit taxpayers in nearly every state in the country.  We want to educate taxpayers so they can help protect themselves.  Rest assured, we do not and will not ask for credit card numbers over the phone, nor request a pre-paid debit card or wire transfer,” says IRS Acting Commissioner Danny Werfel. “If someone unexpectedly calls claiming to be from the IRS and threatens police arrest, deportation or license revocation if you don’t pay immediately, that is a sign that it really isn’t the IRS calling.” Werfel noted that the first IRS contact with taxpayers on a tax issue is likely to occur via mail
Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim’s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it’s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver’s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here’s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue – if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don’t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you’ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.
If you’ve been targeted by this scam, you should also contact the Federal Trade Commission and use their “FTC Complaint Assistant” at FTC.gov.  Please add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments of your complaint.
Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.
The IRS encourages taxpayers to be vigilant against phone and email scams that use the IRS as a lure. The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

I received a voice mail from a scammer:

Have received several of these calls in the last few days.....we answered it once, they hung up. I tried to call the # 650-739-8031 back....went to a magic Jack message that said this # was not assigned to anyone

You can't stop them but you can protect yourself with a call blocker and do not pick up on calls you do not recognize.

Received this call as well from the "US Treasury"  threatening to bring me up before a "magistrate" for unpaid taxes.  I pointed out to the bogus caller we don't use the term "magistrate" in the United States, so have a nice day in Bermuda, India, Bahamas etc. or wherever he was calling from and get a real job.
