- MEL| 19 repliesI received a call from this number from a lady who posed as an attorney and her call was related to a so-called transaction from over six years ago. When I ask her to send me an letter stating her intended business she snapped and said that she had already sent one and was not sending another. I told her that if she was in fact with a legitimate firm that she needed to send me a letter stating her business and that I would be happy to review it, and if necessary, get back with her.

- Emi| 5 repliesI just received a phone call from this company telling me of a so called transaction as well. When I asked for a statement, they told me that they would not be sending another statement as they had already sent one and the fact that I was unorganized and didn't have it anymore wasn't their fault. I will send a certified letter requesting one, and if they don't after that, then I guess their is nothing I can do about it. What is with all these horrible collection agencies and the awful way they treat people?

- Sarah replies to Emi| 4 repliesI recieved a call as well. The lady was rude and harsh. When I asked about this supposed transaction, she said that it happened August 2004! That was almost 4 years ago. I closed that bank account that they said I wrote the check out of around the same time and when I asked her to tell me the account number she refused. Well, the bank didn't even have record of me because my account was closed and there wasn't a balance left with them. I was just wondering, whatever happened with your experience?
- anon| 3 repliesGot the same call on my cell phone. RUDE RUDE RUDE. Won't even work with you. I have no idea what it's for and they won't even explain. Very nice.

- KINDaPOd| 1 replyI received a call from a very nice man (at first), then he turned into a screaming tyrant & did EVERYTHING but call me degrading names! I do owe the bill & intend on paying it but initially when i gave them my checking acct# they started w/drawing more than the agreed amounts!!!! So whenever i deposted $ it just got ate up becasue of overdraft fees. i asked the bank to not pay them which they told me they couldnt,& NEVER give out ur checking # to any collector/creditor cause once they have it they can do what they want! So they advised me to close it. I did and started sending money order pymts which were smaller pymts now cause i had play "catch up" due to them taking more $. THE SAME MAN CALLED AND CALLED ME EVERY DAY SCREAMING AT ME TO GIVE HIM A NEW CHECKING ACCT # & WHEN I EXPLAINED TO HIM WHAT HAPPENED HE DIDNT CARE, HE WOULD INTERRUPT ME DEAD SENTENCE & SAY "GOT UR CHECK BOOK OUT?" WHEN I SAID NO, HE STARTED THREATENING LEGAL ACTION. I TOLD HIM GO AHEAD AND HUNG UP. NEVER SPOKE TO HIM AGAIN.

- JLLady, name Jessica, called from "Attorney" and wanted to talk to my husband. I told her he was not availbale and she said she would leave her number. 1-800-390-6590 call and ask for Jessica. I asked the nature of her business, and she said (after a brief hesitation) "private", and he will know what its about. After looking up the #651-209-1825 found that it is a "collection agency".

- JLCaller named Jessica called for my husband from "lawyer" (no firm name). She asked to leave her Number, 1-651-209-1825. I asked the nature of the business, and she said "private", "he will know what it is about". After checking on the internet and reading complaints from other persons, I surmised this is (bogus)collection agency.

- CynI had closed my checking account not knowing that I had two outstanding checks in the sum of $48...this company calls and wants $300. I asked if I could make payments and the man starts screaming at me, telling me I broke the law, that I had to pay, that there were going to take legal action. So be it, I refuse to give them my checking account #'s....

- Emi replies to SarahI just started receiving calls from this firm again. It's been 4 months since the last time. Now they are calling my parents house as well, telling them that their number is the only one they have for me, but then call my number usually right after. Yesterday my sister answered at my parents house and said I couldn't be reached there. Michelle, the lady from the "firm" requested an alernative number. My sister told her she wouldn't give that out so Michelle asked my sister to take a message. My sister, with 5 other things going on at the same time, wrote down what she thought she heard for a number and when Michelle requested that she read it back, it wasn't right then repremended my sister for not taking a message. I have requested information from the Iowa Attorney General and have also reported them with the Attorney Generals office. I was told by someone in their Fair Debt department that if I request a statement or have any questions regarding the so called debt, a true, fair debt collector following the law will oblige with your requests and answer your questions.
Hopefully people realize that this company and their practices are unlawful and take action before paying any money on their threats.
Good luck to everyone! - EmiJust a piece of advice for anyone dealing with this crap. NEVER give out your bank account number. The law says that collection agencies can not threaten you with legal action, nor can they demand account numbers to bank accounts or credit cards. You have the legal right to make payment arrangements and pay via mail with money orders. I've found that if you do owe the money, call the company directly that you owe and make arrangements with them. Most of them are more than willing to do this (especially if you explain the company that is dealing with the debt isn't following the Fair Debt Act and you can avoid all the so called "fee's" that these fraudulant companys add. I've spent sometime on the phone with companies that I owe asking if I can pay them directly, and if they say no, I explain that the only way I will take care of the debt is through them because the company they have as their "collection agency" isn't following the law and the Attorney Generals office has informed me not to send any money to them. After that explanation, we usually come to an agreement.
I encourage anyone having these difficulties with this company or any demanding collection agency to contact your states Attorney Generals office. They have great ideas, you can file complaints, and it really eases your mind. They will tell you to send a certified letter that states any communication between you and the collection agency has to be through mail, and can no longer be via phone. Once the agency breaks that, they are in serious trouble.
I hope this helps someone. I've done a lot of research since February and it has made my life a lot simpler and at least I know my rights and how I shouldn't be treated.
Good luck!- Caller: Goggins & Levintman (sp)

- JimI received a telephone call yesterday from this firm indicating I bounced a check for approximately $500 written to a doctor. When I inquired about the check number and bank (I never bounced a check and have overdraft protection to boot) she couldn't find the information. I told her I never even heard of this doctor and requested information, she refused and started getting verbal.
I am filing a complaint with the Attorney General of Wisconsin and Minnesota because she violated several portions of the FCDPA.
Furthermore, there part about a "bounced check" appears to be a pattern (see other similar stories)...- Caller: Jessica, indicated she was an attorney

- CharlieI've been getting calls from this number. I used to work as a bill collector and if they're even trying to collect on a legitimate debt, they're still violating the FDCPA. A look call to the attorney general will take care of it. :)

- VickI believe this company is associated with 1st Financial Bank as we are getting rude calls from both of them - they refuse to send out anything in writing stating this has already been done. Old, old account - not sure what to say or do. They call at all hours of the day and night - most of their calls are hang ups when the answering machine picks up. If they're an attorneys office, they should know the laws.

- BethI got an automated call from this number asking for a person I do not know and that I have never heard of. I've had this same number for close to 6 years.
I am afraid they will keep calling if I don't call them to inform them of the wrong number and I fear calling after reading all the stuff other people have been dealing with.- Caller: Goggins & Lavintman, P.A.

- KJWe have been receiving calls from Michelle threatening us with legal action, calling nonstop harrassing us with money we owe on checks that were not paid. After researching and unfortunately sending her money, we realize we do not owe any money. She claims she has sent several letters and will not send another one out. I am filing a complaint with the attorney general's office in Minnesota

- kiddThese callers are all hustlers, barbaric and some few ex-offenders. They have no business ethics and they have been trained to get results through intimidation only. That is their job retention. I am not bothered by their ignorance. Just hang up on them if they failed to act civil.
