    Basically it sounds like a collection agency trying to reach my sibling, but from my understanding it is a social hacking scheme.

    Same call, yesterday as well 9/17.  Calling from fraud division, left number to call Ms. Anderson. Refer to case number when calling.  Call or else they were sending case to state for legal action.  Don't know what this is.

    Did they leave you the same sort of call? I was nervous I figured if they were from a fraud division of anywhere they would have contacted authorities?  It was well versed.

    It is a scare tactic.  If you are in debt to anyone, the only thing they can do is to sue you for the amount owed.  They are not coming to your job with the sheriff, not coming to lock you up, or any of the other things they may claim that they can do.  Their tactics are illegal and I bet as soon as you tell them you are reporting them to the FTC, they will hang up on you.

    I have received calls from the number 1-651-212-2033 ext. 113 and I just wanted to let everyone know this is an actual person trying to scare you into giving up money or personal information. The person's name is Courtney Wilcox claiming to be from the Fraud Division of Wisconsin. This is fraud so don't even waste your time getting upset.

    It's a scam... I too am not in debt to anyone. However received a call from this number a few weeks ago and they said things that just made no sense. First thing, no company name was ever given.  They said they were calling from the "complaints" department and said that they had complaints and that I was to call back or they would report to the county. I can't remember their wording- it was "scary" but not at all what really happens when you owe money. They said something like a search would be put out for me and I should handle myself accordingly.

    Huge scam- don't call these people back. Report them. I am reporting them, we all should.

    Hi, I just wrote the message above... as soon as I was done- I reported the number 651-212-2033 to the FTC website... Very very easy.

    Here's the best link...

    www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/GettingStarted?NextQID=213&Url=%23%26panel1-8

    I found it by going to "complaint", "other", then "imposter scam".  You can add to the complaint, good to keep a trail as I am getting more then 1 call now... I have never answered or called them back...

    So today we get a call from a company called "Professional Mediation".  We have tried to be civil with these people to find out if they are legit.  However they keep saying they are going to send out cops to arrest my husband.  We've called the FCC and the FTC.  I'm so scared.

    Yes, we - especially those of us without debt - shouldn't be mad about lowlife scum using illegal tactics to collect on alleged debts that a company refuses to validate). SILLY US.

    (In other words: stupid shill, shush. :D)

    What practices are off limits for debt collectors?

    Harassment. Debt collectors may not harass, oppress, or abuse you or any third parties they contact. For example, they may not:

    use threats of violence or harm;
    publish a list of names of people who refuse to pay their debts (but they can give this information to the credit reporting companies);
    use obscene or profane language; or
    repeatedly use the phone to annoy someone.

    False statements. Debt collectors may not lie when they are trying to collect a debt. For example, they may not:

    falsely claim that they are attorneys or government representatives;
    falsely claim that you have committed a crime;
    falsely represent that they operate or work for a credit reporting company;
    misrepresent the amount you owe;
    indicate that papers they send you are legal forms if they aren’t; or
    indicate that papers they send to you aren’t legal forms if they are.

    Debt collectors also are prohibited from saying that:

    you will be arrested if you don’t pay your debt;
    they’ll seize, garnish, attach, or sell your property or wages unless they are permitted by law to take the action and intend to do so; or
    legal action will be taken against you, if doing so would be illegal or if they don’t intend to take the action.

    Does the weird way of collecting involve calling people who don't have any debt?

    Does it involve making threats to have them served or arrested? (A violation of the FDCPA)

    You are accusing people of having their "bs catch up to them", what bs is that, not having any debt?

    And finally, you call people here thieves for applying for loans they didn't pay back, yet you can't prove they even borrowed the money.  Now who sounds like the thief here?

    I can't understand how someone could write such a weird message with so much incorrect grammar and expect us to believe it!  Go back to your little cubicle in the boiler room!  AND it's a sad world we live in when pathetic shills try to blame someone for a situation that does not exist!!

    Thia replies to tammy williams
    No, of course you're not a shill. You're just a person who was SO HAPPY with the way this company illegally harassed you into paying back a loan that you didn't have verified that you searched for them online to share your fantastic experience.

    I have no loans, no outstanding debt, no dog in this fight other than I hate seeing morons like you trying to defraud people. No stolen money or scumminess here. Too bad you can't say the same.

    Shills REALLY DON'T think this crap through before letting their fingers and keyboards run away from them, lol.

    I repeat: back to the boiler room with you.

    (Oh, and as an aside? You may want to learn to correctly spell "thief," seeing as you are one.)

    No. They don't have the right to be aggressive. The vast majority do NOT refuse to pay their bills.
