Received call 2/5/08. Caller wouldn't idendify himself. Called several times.
Received call about "an urgent business matter" on 02/28/2008 from 800-299-8301 telling me to call 651-855-1989. Claimed I owed Target nearly $670. Claimed it went out for collections in 1997. I said I've never spent that much at Target, and he claimed it was mostly interest charges. I asked who the creditor was, and he said National Bank, on a Target-specific card. I explained that I've never had a Target card. Offered to "settle" for $200. He was very argumentative, and after I pressed for details, he said "Have a good day," and hung up. I called back and spoke to someone else, and this guy asked to confirm my SSN and address -- I made him give me what they had, and both were incorrect. He claimed that would end the calls.
recorded call from 800-299-8301 looking for Suzanne Morris, with no way to advise they have a wrong number, without hitting "0" to speak to someone- always after hours- no available representatives to help. After 5 times around 8pm EST, the call came in at 2:40 EST- again, no one available to help, but call 651-853-1989. After 3 rounds of ringing to "hold" music, a real voice! He asked for my cell number to verify, and I requested the name of the company first. "Don't worry about it. Are you Suzanne Morris?" "No" "Ok, we will remove you from the list." I advised any more calls would be reported to the FCC. There MUST be a better way to restrict these calls- Do Not Call List has a hole that these people slip through on!!!!
I am still getting calls from 800-299-8301 and I get the same thing--there's a message that they have an urgent business matter and asks for a gene jones (there is no one by that name at our #) and then they put you on hold, then press 1 or something, then you wait and wait listening to piano music, then they say "no one is available, please call 651-855-1989", I normally never do, but I'm getting disgusted so I called them back twice and got an older woman the first time and it sounded like I got someone off of the couch and I demanded that she remove our # from the calling list or I would call the FCC. The second time, I got a younger woman who was a smart-aleck when I demanded that they remove the number now or I will be contacting a lawyer and she said "don't talk to me that way". Unbelievable. They are pranking us and I'm not supposed to talk to her that way.
