The same man named Paul Allen called me up also saying that i had a master card and i commit fraud with it. I never commit fraud with a credit card he said for me to send him 900. dollars and my case will be closed. I told him no then he said he will see me in court.  Is there someone we can report this to?

i got the phone call on my voice mail and they were asking for my husband.  they said he had fraud charges that were going to go against him if we didn't take care of some bill to a credit card.  they had certain info about him but it was from back in 1996.  if it was a true current bill wouldn't they have his current info? what can I do about this phone call.

From your name I could almost call a "Godwin's Law" corollary for its uninformed and ridiculous (lack of) content. Shame on you - you need to get yourself a hobby (something besides hate mail). Now, take your hand out of your pants - ah don’t you sniff those fingers - and start looking for something productive instead of just bashing. I for one am tempted to suggest you “go play in the freeway kid” but that would neither be nice or productive - I am sure someone with your demonstrated command of the english language and sensitivity to the issues at hand you could probably work cleaning diapers or sorting recyclables at the refuse plant - both of which pay at least minimum wage and have the added benefit of you being able to take home all the ‘stuff’ you can eat. Cheers - LOL

So, what did you do?  I have had the same call.  I'm looking for information to settle the problem.  I don't even know the problem.  I've been calling 2 days and can't get anybody.  Its nerve wrecking to try and settle disputes and you don't know what its even about.  This is worse than an abusive spouse accusing you of something you haven't a clue.  It's ridiculous people live like this in America and pick on people who can not afford this kind of pressure.  They never go after people with REAL money.  Hopefully, they'll be caught soon.  Really! Grown-ups with nothing better to do but play games all day.

I too got a call from this # 657-859-4563 telling me they have a summons for me to appear in court. when I asked for them to mail me something since I never received anything from them in the mail they refused. They wanted a credit card # to make a one time payment.  I asked them why haven't I received anything in the mail.  When I mentioned an attorney the guy got very defensive & said he was going to mark it refusal to pay & hung up on me.  I don't even know what this is for.  But I do think it's a scam.  I heard it was on channel 10 news about people doing this.

this guy is trying to pull out 10 year old debt accounts( that was written off years ago) and have you admit its yours- once you say yes thats me or acknowledge the account you could be on the hook again, they can start reporting the debt as current WATCH OUT - your  current creditors know who you are and where you are. Not everyone has a perfect credit pass but thats why credit cards companies charge you 22% interest. I asked for specific contact information of the company and the "court case" they only gave me a p.o.box number and didnt have any information on the "case" date. WATCH OUT.

Fake collection agency using prepaid phone call, just disregard them. They will try to be aggressive and claim to file court documents. Then they will start cussing and threatening to hunt down your family. Better to disconnect and ignore further interaction. They do not have a valid debt.

I had my attorney call them and they tried to get hostile until my lawyer exposed them for who they are.  people, they refuse to give you any details about themselves.  demand a FULL company name, not some ABA, or other letters.  Demand full name AND address.  if they refuse, hang up.

Former Bill Collector replies to usacountrygirl
What a riot!  This fake company comes off as if they are a legitimate company.  While they admitted they are just a Debt Buying Service, people DO NOT get conned into giving them ANY payment information via the phone.  They refuse to give you their company name.  (CLUE)

They will harass you by stating you're about to get served legal / court papers.  It's a SCARE tactic.  I used to be a bill collector and said the same thing.  They are supposed to adhere to the Fair Debt Collectors Practices Act. (FDCPA)  People please read the link from the FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION

    http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre18.shtm

Look at all of the bullet items to ensure you're protected.  Here's my favorite you should memorize:

QUESTION: What does the debt collector have to tell me about the debt?

FTC ANSWER:  Every collector must send you a written “validation notice” telling you how much money you owe within five days after they first contact you. This notice also must include the name of the creditor to whom you owe the money, and how to proceed if you don’t think you owe the money.
