just aggravating how can you just constantly send text messages to people whom you don't know and have no authority to send them these messages. And has not given you permission to text someone that is invasion of privacy and downright disgusting. Like stalking someone. This has to be illegal !!

For a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

@Tamianth:  Thanks for reminding me!  Got one of these text messages on my cellphone too; Verizon also accepts reporting/forwarding spam to 7726. They will reply almost instantly, asking you to reply with the sender's phone number. If you're on a limited text plan, the text messages are not charged to/against your account.

I also replied to the sender with a "STOP" text.  It was something Verizon security had instructed me to do in the past, but I don't know if that's still procedure, or if I just exposed myself to future abuse. I rarely get spam on my cellphone since it's unlisted and not given out as a contact number.
