I'm the first? Well, surely won't be the last. I just received (on my Do-Not-Call state and national listed mobile phone) a call, robo-initiated, the recording which I hung up on saying in a cheerful voice, "Hi, this is Sherrie from Google Advertising".  The Caller ID did not mention Google or Sherrie, but a deception: call from the (something) area - maybe Plainview or something similar, with which I'm totally unfamiliar. Weirdly, after blocking and reporting this number as a do-not-call violator (Google being about as big and bad as it gets!), the caller ID no longer displayed the first id (location) but simply says "mobile". They've got great technology, horrid ethics at Google (especially, you'd think, from the "don't do evil" company!) Spam!!

Hang up on my cell. Blocked.

Didn't answer, some random number from the Palmdale Area. According go the first reviewer, this must be SPAM. Thanks ex-Google Fan!

This company probably isn't Google, it is a company that will use google analytics to try to list your business website.  They use the word google to get your attention, buy obviously they are not the most ethical bunch.  I really doubt google would use a robo-dialer.

My number is on do not call.  Same company has called me before.  They are reported now.  Hopefully it stops soon.  3rd time in a month.

I don't think it's actually from "google", it's from spammers and scammers claiming to be google.

We got robocops from these Google fakes all day long every day at our business here in Houston.  We're on the no-call list and I've started writing down every number they call from and will report each and every number, probably to no-avail.  Next time they call I'm going to use my grandmother's old way of getting rid of these unwanted calls - have a coach whistle available by the phone, punch 1 to get someone to answer the line, then blow their ear drum out.  Yep, I'm gonna go old school on them, lol.

Got a call from this number today. Blocked them. It's spam.

I got the same Sherry from Google crap,,,, I pressed all the appropriate buttons and got to speak to some guy. I asked him for his company info so I could get it right as I was reporting him on the do not call registry website. He refused to give it to me and told me to have a blessed day.... I wasn't that nice when I told him where to go!

Twice in one hour!!

Same Palmdale Area call, no message.

Just got a call from this number, did not answer, they left no message and after reading all the comments above I blocked the number. The thing is I've blocked about 100 or so number since I discovered that wonderful feature on my phone. But these guys keep coming up with fresh numbers to use. Oh well, I'll just keep on blocking them. If I didn't have the option to block them I would probably need to change my number at this point as I would be getting 47 unwanted calls a day.

This number continues to call. This is unsolicited and unwanted.

Apparently from what I have read is that the Do-Not-Call list is no longer a threat and it has become a Do Not Care list for the spammers. A lot of them are not in the USA jurisdiction to be prosecuted as they are using off shore calling methods to bounce the calls to us. Those that are in the USA, if they do get in trouble with it will gladly pay the fines to keep the Robo calling going to generate income. Just one call to an unsuspecting elderly person can reap some dollars into their pockets. The only tool we now have in our pockets is to not answer these unknown numbers. If it is indeed someone that is legitimately trying to get ahold of you, they will leave a message so you can monitor whether or not you should get in touch.

Just got a call from this Google Advertising about my company.  So I played along.  I asked "so I have a company? News to me, do you know what it's called?"  He said "why are you giving me attitude?" I said "if I have a company you should know what it is right?" He said he "was supposed to ask the questions."  I said "oh like what my bank account number is and all my other important information so you can steal my identity and take my money."  He said "no we don't do that we are a company."  I asked "what is your company, you must have a name right?"  He replied "well I don't need to take this".
And I replied "And neither do I."
