asking about a family member who supposedly put in a application for employment with At&t and wanting personal information about him ( address, current tel No. work history etc) He made no job application with At&t. on call back no answer.

Very scandalous collection practices. They call family and fiends saying you've applied for a job and they are doing a reference check. Then when they get you on the phone they want all your personal info down to car make and model! Surprised they didn't ask for blood type. Very threatening over the phone despite them being ”willing to work” with you. They are collecting on student loans fyi which yes, legally have to be paid off and you cannot file BK on. From a previous bill collector to ACT, you really need to freshen up on fair debt collection laws.
